Marble from Italy

Bardiglio Imperiale

Bardiglio Imperiale is a dark grey Italian marble with a dense cloud figure and an elegant, cool effect. At ROSSITTIS it is used for floors, stairs, bathrooms and wall cladding where a grey marble with more depth than Carrara is called for.

About Bardiglio Imperiale

Bardiglio Imperiale is one of the classic grey marbles from Italy. The colour ranges from mid to darker grey, often with softly running clouds and occasionally with fine white lines. This makes the stone read as closed and elegant without being monotonous. Anyone looking for a grey marble that appears calmer than Fior di Bosco and markedly darker than Carrara will find a very load-bearing option here.

The stone comes from Italy and has long been used in high-quality interior fit-out for floors, stairs, wall surfaces and bathroom architecture. Compared with Bardiglio Nuvolato, Bardiglio Imperiale usually reads as somewhat denser and more compact, less cloudy and somewhat more formal. That predisposes it to projects in which grey natural stone is to be used not decoratively but precisely and architecturally.

Finishes

Bardiglio Imperiale is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Poliert

Bardiglio Imperiale should be well sealed above all in bathrooms and kitchens. A sealer reduces the ingress of moisture and staining agents, but it does not make the stone acid-proof.

For cleaning and care, pH-neutral natural stone cleaners are the right choice. A microfibre cloth, little water and regular maintenance cleaning are usually sufficient.

You should avoid limescale removers, acidic bathroom cleaners, vinegar cleaners and strong degreasers. On darker marbles, etch marks and dull zones can become visible more quickly than on more animated stones.

In wet areas, regular refreshing of the sealer is worthwhile. On intensively used surfaces, professional reworking after a few years is normal.

Frequently asked questions

Is Bardiglio Imperiale suitable for the kitchen?

It is possible as an exclusive worktop, but it needs more care than granite or quartzite. At around 135 MPa compressive strength and about 0.16 to 0.19 % water absorption the stone is technically sound, but it remains acid-sensitive.

Which finishes are available for Bardiglio Imperiale?

The finishes available from stock are listed in the »Finishes« block on this page.

Where does Bardiglio Imperiale come from?

Bardiglio Imperiale comes from Italy and belongs to the family of well-known grey marbles from Tuscany.

How do I clean and care for Bardiglio Imperiale?

For cleaning and care you should use pH-neutral natural stone cleaners. Acidic bathroom or kitchen cleaners are unsuitable and can etch the surface.

Can Bardiglio Imperiale be used outdoors?

In sheltered external areas this is possible, given correct planning. For freely weathered, heavily used surfaces, harder rocks are usually the more robust choice.

Bardiglio Imperiale or Bardiglio Nuvolato?

Bardiglio Imperiale generally reads as denser and more formal. Bardiglio Nuvolato usually shows more cloud figure and a somewhat softer, more decorative image.
