Serpentinit from India

Rainforest Brown

Rainforest Brown is an Indian marble with a brown ground colour and striking, tree-like branching veins. At ROSSITTIS it is used for bookmatched walls, vanity units, exclusive floors and expressive interiors, wherever a calm standard stone is expressly not what is wanted.

About Rainforest Brown

Rainforest Brown stands out not through colour alone but through its drawing. The brown ground surface is run through by darker, branch-like lines, as if a tree structure had imprinted itself in the stone. That is exactly why this material has such a strong effect on large surfaces and in mirror-laid compositions. For calm, minimalist projects it is too much. For characterful interiors, reception areas, bathrooms or accent walls, on the other hand, it can be exactly right.

The stone comes from Rajasthan in India and is also traded in the market as Bidasar Brown Marble. Typical is the strongly varying vein density from block to block, which makes selection and layout particularly important. Compared with more uniform brown natural stones, Rainforest Brown lives more from the picture than from the surface. Anyone working with bookmatching, mirror-set slabs or deliberately composed wall panels can achieve very impressive results here.

Suitability by application

Suitable with limitations

Care & fabrication

Rainforest Brown should be carefully impregnated after installation. At about 2.43 % water absorption the stone is considerably more open than many hard rocks and reacts accordingly to moisture and staining agents.

For cleaning and care, use pH-neutral natural stone cleaners. Acidic products, descalers, vinegar-based cleaners and aggressive sanitary chemicals are unsuitable for this marble.

Oil, wine, coffee, soap and coloured cosmetic products should be removed promptly from horizontal surfaces. Polished surfaces in particular show stain shadows and dull patches more quickly than granite or porcelain.

In wet rooms and on floors a regular maintenance check is worthwhile. Rainforest Brown stays beautiful if it is treated like a decorative marble and not like a carefree working surface.

Frequently asked questions

Is Rainforest Brown suitable for the kitchen?

Only with a clear willingness to maintain it. At 2,470 kg/m³ bulk density and 114 MPa compressive strength the stone is load-bearing enough, but as a marble it remains acid-sensitive and, at 2.43 % water absorption, considerably more care-intensive than quartzite or granite.

Where does Rainforest Brown come from?

Rainforest Brown comes from Rajasthan in India and is frequently also traded as Bidasar Brown Marble.

Which finish suits Rainforest Brown?

The surface finishes available from stock are listed in the »Finishes« block on this page.

How do I care for Rainforest Brown correctly?

Impregnation, pH-neutral cleaners and the prompt removal of oil, wine or acids are mandatory. With marble, consistent day-to-day care matters more than with hard rock.

Rainforest Brown or Emperador?

Emperador usually looks more classic and calmer, Rainforest Brown considerably more pictorial and organic. Anyone looking for dramatic veining is closer to the mark with Rainforest Brown.

What does Rainforest Brown cost?

The price depends on the batch, thickness, surface finish and fabrication — with natural stone there is no serious flat rate per square metre. Business customers see prices once their B2B account is activated; private customers receive a complete quote through a fabricator near them.
