About Roma Imperiale
Roma Imperiale is a Brazilian quartzite from the extensive metamorphic shield areas of Brazil. The material is classified in the international premium stone trade as a quartzite and belongs to the group of white-and-gold veined premium quartzites which visually recall Italian Calacatta marbles, but which as quartzites offer the full high-performance robustness of a hard rock.
The design model is clear: in its look, Roma Imperiale quotes the dramatic Calacatta Gold look of Italian Apuan marbles — with a pure white base tone and powerfully branched gold and amber-coloured veining. Unlike genuine Calacatta marble, however, Roma Imperiale is petrographically a quartzite with a Mohs hardness of around 7, full acid resistance and full heat resistance. The gold-warm veins are secondary iron oxide mineralisations along former fissures — the same formation mechanism that produces the typical warm healing zones in Calacatta marble, but here in the quartzite material class.
In the slab appearance, Roma Imperiale shows a clear white to soft ivory base tone with a dramatically branched vein network in warm honey, gold and amber tones. The vein markings appear fluid, organic and expressive — as in a finely drawn Calacatta marble, but with the particular crystalline brilliance of a quartzite. In places the veining condenses into powerful knots, then runs on softly and in a controlled manner. An exceptionally dramatic, geologically authentic material story.

That makes Roma Imperiale the logical choice for users who want the Calacatta picture without accepting the care requirements of genuine marble.
An important note on classification: in some databases or older sources, Roma Imperiale was listed as “Trachyte” — petrographically that is not correct. Trachyte is a volcanic rock with a fundamentally different mineralogy and formation history. Material character and technical properties confirm the classification as a Brazilian quartzite unambiguously.

For anyone comparing Roma Imperiale with other materials: the stylistic model is genuine Calacatta Gold (an Italian marble from the Apuan mountains) — geologically more authentic, but more care-intensive and more expensive. Roma Imperiale is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.
Polished
Polishing is the most classic finish for quartzite — a glossy surface with the highest possible colour intensity and a pronounced sense of depth. Depending on the mineral composition, the effect can be satin-gloss in places. As a silicate rock it is fully acid-resistant and scratch-hard — ideal for kitchen worktops and feature surfaces.
Satin-honed
The surface is brushed — softer minerals are removed in a targeted way, creating a slight depth and a matt appearance. Veined quartzites gain a special character in this way. Acid-resistant and scratch-resistant, easy to care for in daily use — a popular alternative to a polish in modern kitchens and living spaces.
Care & fabrication
Roma Imperiale is a dense Brazilian quartzite with high compressive strength, low water absorption and full acid, heat and frost resistance.
Daily cleaning: a soft microfibre cloth, warm water and a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner.
Do not use: concentrated acids, steel wool, coarse scouring sponges.
Sealing: on polished surfaces, recommended every 18–36 months depending on use. On the light tonality, a sealer is important in order to avoid oil saturation stains — on white quartzites such stains are particularly visible.
Kitchen worktop: hot pans can be set down directly. Steel knives leave no scratches. Wine and lemon leave no etch marks — the decisive advantage over genuine Calacatta marble.
Repair: scratches in the polish can be evened out by professional repolishing.
