Rosa Quarzit Scuro Corallo

Geologically, Rosa Quarzit Scuro Corallo is a classic quartzite — a high-grade metamorphic rock formed by high-pressure and high-temperature metamorphism of original sandstone sediments. The sand grains weld into a compact crystalline quartz matrix with a quartz content of over 90 per cent. The warm coral red colouring comes from embedded iron oxide minerals (above all haematite); the pale lines of layering come from more quartz-rich bands that were deposited as pale sand layers during sediment formation. Quartzites are among the most robust and easiest-to-care-for natural dimension stones there are — the compact quartz structure makes them very hard, dense and chemically resistant. On the market the material also runs under the designations Rosa Corallo Quartzite, Red Corallo Quartzite, Coral Red Quartzite and Corallo Red Quartzite.

The following technical values are documented on the international market: bulk density 2,661 kg/m³, compressive strength 168.7–186.4 MPa (very high), flexural strength 19.82 MPa, water absorption 0.23 per cent. This places the material clearly in the frost-safe range to DIN EN 12371 and makes it suitable without restriction for demanding exterior applications in central European climate zones with freeze-thaw loading. Full acid resistance is given within the normal range of application — wine, lemon juice, vinegar or carbonated drinks leave no etch marks. Compared with classic red granite grades such as Rosso Vanga or Rosso Balmoral, the quartzite character brings a considerably harder, more acid-resistant and more durably stable material performance. Compared with pale Calacatta-like quartzites such as Taj Mahal, the colour signature is dramatically warmer and higher in contrast.

Our honest assessment: Rosa Quarzit Scuro Corallo is a very coherent choice for projects looking for a warm coral red quartzite with the full robustness of a hard rock and effective acid resistance. The combination of a dramatic coral red effect, a gentle signature of layering, high compressive strength (168–186 MPa) and full acid resistance makes the material particularly interesting for designed statement exposed surfaces, lobby floor areas, bar counters and exterior applications with a warm setting of colour. The material is barely established on the German market — it is a niche choice with a highly independent character, ideal for projects with a high memorability and a desire for an unmistakable material signature.
