Sandy Creek Grey

Sandy Creek Grey is an Egyptian limestone with a calm light grey-cream base tone and a fine granular crystalline structure — a classic Mediterranean dimension stone with an elegant, restrained appearance. The sandblasted and satin-honed working gives the material outstanding slip resistance for external façades, pool surrounds and Mediterranean warm exterior architecture.

An Egyptian carbonate limestone from the extensive carbonate sediments of the Saharan platform. Mineralogically dominated by calcite with lower iron oxide pigmentation (for the light grey tonality). Mohs hardness approx. 3, acid-sensitive.

About Sandy Creek Grey

Sandy Creek Grey is an Egyptian limestone. With its extensive carbonate sediments of the Saharan limestone platform, Egypt is one of the oldest and most important dimension-stone provinces in the world — the pyramids, the Sphinx and countless ancient Egyptian sacred buildings are executed in Egyptian limestones.

Geologically it is a classic carbonate limestone from the extensive Egyptian carbonate sediments of the Saharan platform. The light grey tonality arises through lower iron oxide pigmentation and a higher proportion of pure calcite components.

Finishes

Sandy Creek Grey is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Sandblasted + satin-honed

The surface is roughened by sandblasting and then brushed — this creates a level surface with a softer feel than sandblasted alone. The colour appears restrained and the texture is slip-resistant. For demanding outdoor applications in which secure footing is to be combined with a finer tactile quality.

Care & fabrication

Sandy Creek Grey is a carbonate limestone and reacts sensitively to acid. Mohs hardness approx. 3.

Daily cleaning: a soft cloth or soft mop, clear water, a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner.

Do not use: acidic cleaners, descalers, scouring agents.

Sealing: recommended every 12–18 months.

External application: given proper laying with drainage, it is suitable for frost conditions. Use de-icing salt sparingly in winter.

Repair: scratches and matt patches can be evened out by professional resanding.

Frequently asked questions

Where does Sandy Creek Grey come from?

From the Egyptian carbonate sediments of the Saharan platform — the same region from which dimension stones for the pyramids and ancient Egyptian sacred buildings have been won since antiquity.

Is Sandy Creek Grey suitable for external applications?

Yes, with the sandblasted and satin-honed working, very much so. Outstanding slip resistance.

Which thicknesses are available?

In the ROSSITTIS stock we hold 30 mm thickness.

How much material do you currently have in stock?

We currently hold 8 raw slabs of Sandy Creek Grey in 30 mm thickness.

What does Sandy Creek Grey cost?

The price depends on the batch, thickness, surface finish and fabrication — with natural stone there is no serious flat rate per square metre. Business customers see prices once their B2B account is activated; private customers receive a complete quote through a fabricator near them.
