Appearance. The base tone is a light whitish-cream dimension-stone white through to a very light grey cream-grey with a subtly warm undertone. Distributed across the surface are the characteristic components of this selection: evenly spread dark biotite mica speckles (1–4 mm in size), which give the slab its classic salt-and-pepper appearance, transparent quartz grains with a slight glassiness, whitish plagioclase and pink-white potassium feldspar grains, and scattered silvery, glittering muscovite flakes. Typical values for classic Galician two-mica granites: bulk density 2,640 kg/m³, compressive strength 169 MPa, flexural strength 14.9 MPa, water absorption 0.22 %, Mohs hardness around 6–7. That places the stone technically in the most stable range of the granite family and makes it structurally and mechanically suitable for all demanding applications. Frost- and de-icing-salt-resistant, fully UV-stable and — as a silicate rock — almost entirely acid-proof (quartz, feldspar and mica do not react to acids such as vinegar, wine or lemon). Heat-resistant: hot pots can be set down directly for a short time.

Poliert

Politur ist die klassischste Veredelung im Hartgesteinsegment — eine spiegelglatte, hochglänzende Oberfläche mit höchstmöglicher Farbintensität und maximaler Tiefenwirkung der Mineralstruktur. Als säurebeständiges Silikatgestein ist polierter Granit pflegeleicht und für Küchenarbeitsplatten, Wandverkleidungen und repräsentative Sichtflächen erste Wahl.

Geflammt + 1 x gebürstet

Die Oberfläche wird durch Hitze aufgeraut und einmal gebürstet, um scharfkantige Mineralreste zu glätten und loses Material zu entfernen. Etwas sanftere Haptik als rein geflammt, weiterhin rutschhemmend, Farbe weniger intensiv als poliert. Standardwahl für Außenbereiche, Terrassen und stark beanspruchte Bodenflächen.

Care & fabrication

Cleaning. In everyday use, warm water, a soft cloth or a clean mop and a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner are sufficient. Mild all-purpose cleaners, mild washing-up foam and all commercially available bathroom and kitchen cleaners are suitable. Wipe up spilled liquids promptly — the material is acid-proof and not porous, but on the light surface dried drops carrying dark pigment (coffee, red wine, black tea) leave visible films behind.

Do not use. Strongly acidic special cleaners (HF-based wheel cleaners, industrial glass cleaners), aggressive scouring pads or abrasive pastes. Even though granite is chemically resistant, scratching cleaning agents can scour the polished surface dull.

Sealing. Recommended, but not essential. Blanco Estrella Gris Parga has a water absorption of 0.22 % and is dense in itself. A premium sealer with silane/siloxane-based stone protection makes handling grease, oil, wine and coffee easier on kitchen and bathroom surfaces — pigment uptake is reduced and cleaning is simplified. Where the water is high in minerals, sealing is particularly advisable, because the light areas of the slab are more prone to visible limescale films.

Kitchen and bathroom. Technically extremely robust in kitchen and bathroom use: hot pots can be set down directly on the untreated slab for a short time — on sealed surfaces we nevertheless recommend a trivet, because very high temperatures can locally break down the sealer. Acids such as vinegar, wine, lemon and tomato leave no marks; anti-limescale sprays and all commercially available bathroom cleaners are approved.

Floors and stairs. Outstandingly suited as an interior and exterior floor. The surface finishes available in stock are listed in the »Finishes« block further down. On light granite floors, consistent regular cleaning matters, because traffic marks and small soiling are more visible than on dark selections.

Outdoors and frost. Fully suitable. The stone is frost- and de-icing-salt-resistant, UV-stable and can be used as a rear-ventilated façade panel, external wall cladding, pool surround, external floor covering and terrace slab — Galician granites are among the classic European façade stones with a centuries-old track record.

Scratches and repair. At Mohs 6–7, granite is very scratch-resistant. Deeper damage or dull patches on polished slabs can be locally reworked by re-polishing with diamond pastes — that work belongs in the hands of a specialist stonemason or joint-technology firm.
