About Bahama Blue

Bahama Blue is one of those dark granites that carry colour through depth rather than volume. The material shows a dark blue to blue-grey base image with grey-blue movement and reflecting mineral points. This makes the stone read as cooler than brown or black granites and at the same time more refined than a neutral dark grey. On kitchen worktops, façades, stairs and wall surfaces in particular this is of interest where a dark stone is wanted that is not meant simply to be black.

The stone comes from India, from the belt of Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam. Petrographically it is a gneiss; in the market it is established as a blue granite of the hard rock family. Compared with Azul Bahia, Bahama Blue reads as markedly calmer and more economical; compared with labradorite materials, less iridescent and more uniform. For projects that need to combine dark blue with technical everyday practicality, this is a very usable solution.

Poliert

Politur ist die klassischste Veredelung im Hartgesteinsegment — eine spiegelglatte, hochglänzende Oberfläche mit höchstmöglicher Farbintensität und maximaler Tiefenwirkung der Mineralstruktur. Als säurebeständiges Silikatgestein ist polierter Granit pflegeleicht und für Küchenarbeitsplatten, Wandverkleidungen und repräsentative Sichtflächen erste Wahl.

Care & fabrication

Bahama Blue should be sealed after installation, particularly on kitchen worktops and dark floor surfaces. At 0.06 % water absorption the stone is very dense, but a sealer nonetheless makes cleaning and care easier still.

For cleaning and care, pH-neutral natural stone cleaners, water and a soft cloth are sufficient. On dark polished surfaces, water, limescale and grease residues should not be allowed to dry on.

Avoid abrasive pads and aggressive specialist chemicals not approved for natural stone. Coffee, oil, wine and other colouring agents should be removed promptly from worktops.

Outdoors, clean drainage, regular maintenance cleaning and the right finish are important. Technically the stone is very robust, but visually dark surfaces react more sensitively to neglect.
