About Blue in the Night

Blue in the Night is a dark effect stone that only shows its full strength in the light. The base colour is black to deep anthracite, over which lie blue, silvery and partly brown reflections that appear more or less strongly depending on the viewing angle. The effect is refined, heavy and considerably more dramatic than a calm black granite. On polished kitchen islands, stair stringers or large-format wall surfaces this creates a very high-quality, almost nocturnal depth.

Finishes

Blue in the Night is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Polished

Polishing is the most classic finish in the hard stone segment — a mirror-smooth, high-gloss surface with the highest possible colour intensity and maximum depth effect in the mineral structure. As an acid-resistant silicate stone, polished granite is easy to care for and the first choice for kitchen worktops, wall claddings and prestigious exposed surfaces.

Care & fabrication

Blue in the Night should be sealed on kitchen and wet surfaces. That makes cleaning and care easier and keeps the dark surface visually more even.

For cleaning and care, pH-neutral natural stone cleaners, water and a soft cloth are enough. On polished surfaces, limescale and water residues should not be allowed to dry on, because they can make the play of reflections look duller.

Avoid abrasive pads and aggressive cleaners without natural stone approval. Oil, coffee and strongly colouring foods should be removed promptly from worktops.

Outdoors, suitable surfaces, professional installation and good drainage matter. Blue in the Night then remains convincing in the long term.

Frequently asked questions

Is Blue in the Night suitable for the kitchen?

Yes. With around 2,900 to 2,950 kg/m³ bulk density and only about 0.14 to 0.16 % water absorption, Blue in the Night is well suited to kitchen worktops.

Which surfaces are available for Blue in the Night?

The surface finishes available in stock are listed in the »Finishes« block on this page.

Where does Blue in the Night come from?

Blue in the Night comes from Angola. It is a dark anorthositic hard stone with a blue and silvery mineral play.

How do I clean and care for Blue in the Night?

For cleaning and care, pH-neutral natural stone cleaners and soft cloths are sufficient. Sealing is worthwhile above all on kitchen and bathroom surfaces.

Is Blue in the Night suitable for outdoor use?

Yes, in principle. The low water absorption speaks for good external suitability, provided the surface and the construction suit the intended use.

Blue in the Night or Blue Eyes?

Blue in the Night is darker, more dramatic and heavier in effect. Blue Eyes appears lighter, more silvery and more classically labradorescent.

What does Blue in the Night cost?

The price depends on the batch, thickness, surface finish and fabrication — with natural stone there is no serious flat rate per square metre. Business customers see prices once their B2B account is activated; private customers receive a complete quote through a fabricator near them.
