Caesarstone® 506 Mirabel

The code 506 marks Mirabel within the Supernatural Ultra Collection — the most premium marble-look tier of the Lioli Porcelain line. In the 5xxx codes, Caesarstone distinguishes various sub-tiers: Supernatural (classic fluid marble veining), Supernatural Ultra (premium marble looks with particularly elaborately composed vein markings) and ICON (5xxx codes for Quartz Surfaces ICON, that is, dramatic premium marble looks in polyester engineered quartz). 506 Mirabel is a Lioli Porcelain Supernatural Ultra design — a sintered ceramic with dramatic, darkly warm-toned vein markings.

The name “Mirabel” — French for “wonderful to look at” — refers to the elegant, classically luxurious dramaturgy of the veining. Stylistically the look takes its bearings from rare premium marbles such as Calacatta Vagli, Calacatta Borghini, Calacatta Crema or related Apuan premium variants from the Carrara area — curated marble models with a pure white base tone, dramatically branched vein markings and subtle warm accents.

In the slab appearance, Mirabel shows a pure, light ivory cream base tone — cooler than warm creamy beige solid colours, but with subtle warm undertones that give the material a comfortable, almost translucent character. Across this base tone runs an elegantly branched vein network in several colour tones: warm honey-coloured and gold-cream main veins branch into finer taupe-grey accompanying limbs, occasionally accented by subtle copper-warm or anthracite-grey points of depth. The vein markings appear not rigidly linear but fluid and branched, almost crackle-like — like the vein network of a finely drawn Calacatta marble from the Apuan mountains. In places the veining condenses into more powerful knots, then runs on softly and in a controlled manner.

It is precisely this pictorial composition that distinguishes Mirabel from the conventional Calacatta look: whereas classic Calacatta designs work with a pure black-and-white contrast and a single dramatic generation of veins, Mirabel combines several generations of veins of differing warmth and tonality in a single picture. The result is markedly warmer, livelier and more complex in design terms than a Bianco Statuario look — a premium composition for demanding interior architecture that can be combined with warm materials (walnut, olive, brass, bronze) into a luxurious, warm atmosphere.

Technically it is a fully through-sintered large-format porcelain, manufactured in the classic high-pressure, high-temperature sintering process at Lioli Ceramica. Mineral raw materials (natural clays, feldspars, quartzes and pigments) are pressed under high pressure into large-format slabs and sintered at temperatures above 1,200 °C. The result is a chemically non-reactive, almost pore-free ceramic material with water absorption < 0.1 %. The material properties are those of the premium porcelain class: full UV stability (approved for external applications), acid resistance (wine, lemon and vinegar leave no etch marks), heat resistance (hot pans can be set down directly), scratch resistance (Mohs hardness 7–8), frost resistance and food safety.

As a porcelain, Mirabel thereby overcomes the central material limits that genuine Calacatta or Statuario marbles bring with them in use: Calacatta and Calacatta Crema are acid-sensitive, more prone to scratching and limited in stock availability with sometimes incalculable block-to-block scatter. Mirabel delivers the same luxurious, warm pictorial idea in a technically consistently designed, precisely reproducible porcelain quality — without those care requirements.

At the works, Caesarstone produces Mirabel in the jumbo large format 1,600 × 3,200 mm in thicknesses of 12 mm and 20 mm. The standard finish is “Silk” (the Caesarstone designation) — a matt, velvety, silky working with a particularly pleasant feel.

The C400 working is finer than the standard C220 of other materials and underlines the premium character of the design. For anyone comparing Mirabel with other materials: the stylistic models are genuine warm-toned Calacatta premium marbles (Calacatta Vagli, Calacatta Borghini, Calacatta Crema, Calacatta Macchia Vecchia) — geologically authentic and unique, but expensive, acid-sensitive, with all the care requirements of natural stone.
