Marble from Italy

Calacatta Michelangelo

Calacatta Michelangelo is a white Italian marble with striking grey to warm golden veining and a clear luxury effect. At ROSSITTIS it is used for exclusive bathrooms, kitchen islands, wall surfaces and prestige interior fit-outs wherever an expressive Calacatta type is called for.

About Calacatta Michelangelo

Calacatta Michelangelo is not a quiet background stone. The material lives on its white to ivory base and on the clearly visible grey, in part warm golden or beige veins. At its best it produces precisely the tension that many clients associate with the name Calacatta: bright, luxurious, but not sterile. For kitchen islands, vanity tops, shower walls and bookmatch-capable wall surfaces in particular, it is a very strong material.

On the market the stone is carried as an Italian Calacatta marble from the Carrara area. Its affinity with Statuario and Calacatta types is visible; at the same time Michelangelo usually appears somewhat stronger in figuring and more decorative than a quiet Carrara marble. For specifiers it is important that the specific slab determines the effect far more strongly than the name alone. With materials like this, targeted slab selection is always worthwhile.

Finishes

Calacatta Michelangelo is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Poliert

Calacatta Michelangelo should be sealed carefully after installation. Water absorption is respectable for marble, but the material remains acid-sensitive and more prone to staining than quartzite or ceramic.

For cleaning and maintenance, only pH-neutral natural stone cleaners are suitable. Descalers, vinegar-based cleaners and aggressive kitchen or bathroom chemicals are unsuitable.

Coffee, wine, lemon juice, cosmetics and oil should be removed promptly from horizontal surfaces. Polished white marble surfaces in particular show dull patches and shadowy stains quickly.

For external applications, restraint is sensible. The true strength of Calacatta Michelangelo lies clearly in high-quality interiors.

Frequently asked questions

Is Calacatta Michelangelo suitable for a kitchen?

Only with realistic expectations about maintenance. At about 2,705 to 2,725 kg/m³ bulk density and 146 to 150 MPa compressive strength the stone is resilient, but it remains an acid-sensitive marble.

Where does Calacatta Michelangelo come from?

Calacatta Michelangelo is carried on the market as an Italian marble from the Carrara area and belongs, in design terms, to the Calacatta-Statuario family.

Which finish suits Calacatta Michelangelo?

The surface finishes currently held in stock are listed in the »Finishes« block on this page.

How do I care for Calacatta Michelangelo?

Sealing and pH-neutral natural stone care are mandatory. Acidic cleaners and limescale-dissolving products should not be used.

Calacatta Michelangelo or Calacatta Vagli?

Calacatta Michelangelo often appears somewhat clearer and more luxuriously figured, Calacatta Vagli often more mineral and more classic, from the Vagli area. What remains decisive is the specific slab.
