Marble from Turkey

Canyon Wave

Canyon Wave is a Turkish marble with a creamy white base tone and powerfully wave-like flowing gold-green vein courses — an exceptional composition with a landscape quality like a canyon current or a glacial meltwater geometry. An acid-sensitive marble class with an elegant pictorial composition for prestige wall and vanity-top applications.

Turkish carbonate marble from the Anatolian marble deposits — a platform limestone recrystallised by tectonic pressure metamorphosis, from Mesozoic sedimentary basins of the former Tethys. Mohs hardness approx. 3, acid-sensitive. Characteristic is the powerfully wave-like flowing veining with golden-creamy, anthracite-grey and emerald-greenish accents — a landscape-like, graceful composition.

About Canyon Wave

Canyon Wave is a Turkish marble from the extensive Anatolian marble deposits. For decades Turkey has been one of the world's most productive marble exporters, with a particular focus on pale to warm creamy selections.

Geologically it is a classic carbonate marble — a platform limestone from the Mesozoic depositional areas of the former Tethys, recrystallised by tectonic pressure metamorphism and transformed into crystalline marble under elevated temperature and pressure conditions.

Finishes

Canyon Wave is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Polished

Polishing is the most classic finish for marble and limestone — a glossy surface with the highest possible colour intensity and a pronounced depth to the veining. Depending on the mineral composition, the effect can be matte-gloss in places. Acid-sensitive — wine, lemon and vinegar leave etch marks after prolonged contact.

Satin-honed

The surface is brushed — softer minerals are selectively removed, creating a subtle depth and a matte appearance. Strongly veined limestones in particular gain a characterful look and feel this way. The more matte finish conceals small etch marks better than a polish and stands up better to everyday use on heavily used interior surfaces.

Care & fabrication

Canyon Wave is a carbonate marble and reacts sensitively to acids. Mohs hardness about 3.

Daily cleaning: soft microfibre cloth, clear water and a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner.

Do not use: acidic cleaners, descalers, abrasives.

Sealing: directly after installation and, depending on loading, advisable every 12–18 months.

Kitchen worktop: only with an awareness of care. Wipe acidic splashes away immediately.

Vanity top and bathroom: wipe limescale-bearing water splashes away regularly. On no account remove limescale rings at the tap with a descaler.

Repair: etch marks and scratches can be evened out by professional re-polishing.

Frequently asked questions

Where does Canyon Wave come from?

From the Anatolian marble deposits of Turkey.

Is Canyon Wave suitable for the kitchen?

With an awareness of care. As a carbonate marble it is acid-sensitive — better suited to vanity tops and wall applications than to intensively used worktops.

Which finishes are available?

The finishes available from stock are listed in the »Finishes« block on this page.

Is Canyon Wave suitable for bookmatching?

Yes — the powerfully flowing vein figure delivers dramatic axially symmetrical images with mirrored slab pairs.

How much material do you currently have in stock?

We currently carry 12 raw slabs of Canyon Wave in 20 mm thickness.

What does Canyon Wave cost?

The price depends on the batch, thickness, surface finish and fabrication — with natural stone there is no serious flat rate per square metre. Business customers see prices once their B2B account is activated; private customers receive a complete quote through a fabricator near them.
