Cleaning. In everyday use, warm water, a soft cloth or a clean mop and a neutral to slightly alkaline pH cleaner are sufficient. Soapy marble or engineered stone cleaners and mild all-purpose cleaners without acid are suitable. Take up spilt liquids such as red wine, coffee, tea, juices or oil promptly, because the resin-bound marble can draw in pigment at individual points and every shadow shows up on the light surface.
Do not use. Limescale and sanitary cleaners, anti-limescale sprays, acetic and citric acid, drain cleaners, WC cleaners, concrete and rust removers, highly concentrated all-purpose cleaners and chlorine-based bleaches are taboo. They attack both the marble chippings (carbonate reacts with acid) and the polyester resin and lead to dull patches or discolouration. Solvent-based agents (acetone, petrol, thinners, cellulose cleaners) are likewise to be avoided — they can dissolve the binder.
Impregnation. A classic natural stone impregnation is not strictly necessary — the polyester matrix largely seals the slab. In areas with an increased risk of staining (open-plan kitchen, washstand, bar) we nevertheless recommend a light, non-film-forming stone impregnation on a silane-polysiloxane basis as additional protection, above all on the honed version.
Kitchen. Polished surfaces tolerate brief kitchen loading, but they are not thermally resilient: trivets for hot pots, pans and baking trays are essential; keep permanent heat sources (oven, dishwasher) away by design. Use chopping boards — the material is hard, but polyester resin can go dull along knife marks over time. Wipe off grease and acid marks (tomato, lemon, wine) immediately.
Bathroom. Micro Sivec can be used well in the bathroom (washstand, wall cladding, shower). Consistently avoid acidic care products and limescale-dissolving sprays, because they leave visible shadows on light marble aggregates. In the shower area, wipe away standing water promptly so that no limescale film builds up, and given the creamy warm base tone, take care with henna or dyeing products.
Outdoors and frost. Not suitable for exterior construction. UV radiation causes the resin to yellow over the long term, and freeze-thaw cycles can lead to micro-defects. The material is also not to be recommended permanently in fully sunlit conservatories or open loggias.
Scratches and repair. Superficial scratches on the polished version can be re-polished by a stonemason, deeper damage filled with tinted polyester filler and worked in to match the colour. Because the material is industrially mixed, colour-accurate repairs are usually well achievable.
