CTX BasicKeramik® ABK Patagonia Wow

CTX BasicKeramik® ABK Patagonia Wow is a sintered porcelain large-format slab from the Italian ABK Group, from the Patagonia breccia-look collection, distributed by ROSSITTIS under the house brand CTX BasicKeramik®. The slab shows a dramatic breccia composition with a creamy white ground tone, powerful black-anthracite mineral islands and crystal clusters, pale grey-bluish lightenings and subtle warm stone lightenings – stylistically a quotation of the famous Brazilian Patagonia quartzite. At ROSSITTIS we fabricate Patagonia Wow into statement kitchen worktops with bookmatching potential, islands, bar counters, dining tables, prestige wall claddings, bathroom fit-outs and outdoor kitchens with a dramatic, elegant natural stone character.

A large-format porcelain slab (sintered stone / porcelain ceramic) from the Italian ABK Group (Solignano, province of Modena, Emilia-Romagna) from the Patagonia breccia-look collection. CTX BasicKeramik® is the ROSSITTIS house brand for this ABK line – with permanently consistent stock availability, uniform fabrication and attractive terms. The slab is fully mineral and through-sintered (not an engineered quartz, not a natural stone), and is therefore heat-resistant, acid-resistant, UV-stable and suitable for external use. The variant “Patagonia Wow” shows a powerfully animated breccia-look composition with a creamy white base tone and black to anthracite mineral clusters – stylistically an allusion to the famous Brazilian Patagonia quartzite.

About CTX BasicKeramik® ABK Patagonia Wow

Background. CTX BasicKeramik® is the house brand of ROSSITTIS GmbH for sintered porcelain large-format slabs – produced in Italy by the ABK Group, one of the largest European manufacturers of technical fine ceramics, based in Solignano (province of Modena, Emilia-Romagna). The Patagonia collection within the ABK programme line quotes the world-famous Brazilian Patagonia quartzite – a premium natural stone with a dramatic clast pattern and pronounced bookmatching potential. “Wow” is, within the ABK Patagonia family, a particularly powerful and animated tonal variant with characteristic black-anthracite mineral clusters.

Finishes

CTX BasicKeramik® ABK Patagonia Wow is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Soft Touch

A standard finish in the matte ceramic segment — after firing, the material is additionally brushed. It feels distinctly gentler than naturale matt, with a warm, softly tactile appearance. Easy to maintain and stain-resistant — a design-led choice for demanding visible surfaces and living concepts.

Care & fabrication

Cleaning. Day to day, warm water, a soft cloth or a clean mop and a neutral to mildly alkaline pH cleaner are enough. Suitable are mild all-purpose cleaners, mild washing-up foam and all commercially available sanitary and kitchen cleaners without hydrofluoric acid (HF). The porcelain is almost completely acid-resistant – even acetic, citric and hydrochloric acid barely attack the slab. Take up spilled liquids promptly, because on the pale surface dried drops with a dark pigment (coffee, red wine, black tea) can remain visible as hazes; the material itself, however, is free of pores and therefore stain-resistant.

Do not use. Hydrofluoric acid (HF) and fluoride-containing cleaners are the only class of substance that can genuinely attack porcelain – they occur practically only in industrial glass and stone cleaners and are not relevant in the home.

Impregnation. Not required – porcelain is dense and free of pores in itself, water absorption is below 0.1 %.

Soft Touch finish. The Soft Touch version shows a subtle tactile surface texture with a soft matt sheen and reduced reflection – the dramatic clast pattern looks soft and full of depth. On the Soft Touch surface, wipe marks remain less visible than on highly polished slabs.

Pale dramatic marble-look slabs – particular care notes. On a pale porcelain with a dramatic clast pattern, water rings, limescale marks and wipe streaks become more clearly visible as paler hazes than on textured or dark grades. On kitchen worktops a consistent wipe-after routine with a soft microfibre cloth is advisable.

Kitchen and bathroom. In kitchen and bathroom use, technically all but unbeatable: hot pans can be set down directly for short periods, acids such as vinegar, wine, lemon and tomato leave no traces, and anti-limescale sprays and all commercially available sanitary cleaners are approved.

Bookmatching and statement applications. Patagonia Wow is outstandingly suited to bookmatching adjacent slab pieces – the angular, irregular clast pattern produces impressive V, X or quad bookmatch patterns. We recommend planning the slab layout before laying with our stone technology service.

Outdoors and frost. Fully suitable. The slab is UV-stable, frost- and weather-resistant and can be used as a rainscreen façade panel, exterior wall cladding, outdoor kitchen surface, pool surround and exterior floor covering.

Scratches and repair. Porcelain is very hard (about Mohs 7) and therefore considerably more scratch-resistant than most natural materials. Deeper damage cannot simply be re-polished – repair is by replacing the affected workpiece.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of material is CTX BasicKeramik® ABK Patagonia Wow?

A sintered porcelain large-format slab (sintered stone / porcelain ceramic) from the Italian ABK Group, from the Patagonia breccia-look collection. The slab is produced in Solignano (province of Modena, Emilia-Romagna) and distributed by ROSSITTIS under the house brand CTX BasicKeramik®. Mineral raw materials (feldspar, quartz, clay minerals, pigments) are compacted in a pressing process without polymer binders and sintered at over 1,200 °C in a tunnel kiln. Stylistically, the “Wow” version is a powerful, animated tonal variant with a dramatic clast pattern – inspired by the Brazilian Patagonia quartzite.

What does the designation “CTX BasicKeramik” mean?

CTX BasicKeramik® is the house brand of ROSSITTIS GmbH for sintered porcelain large-format slabs in the ABK line. Under this name we bundle various ABK grades (quartzite look, marble look, concrete look, solid colour, breccia look such as Patagonia) with permanently consistent stock availability, uniform fabrication and attractive terms from our warehouse in Holzwickede.

What exactly does Patagonia Wow look like?

A warm, creamy white building stone beige as the ground tone, interspersed with angular black-anthracite mineral islands and crystal clusters (like geological outgrowths with a distinct depth of effect), pale grey-bluish cloudy lightenings, subtle warm beige transitions and fine stylolite-like lines. Stylistically a quotation of the famous Brazilian Patagonia quartzite.

Is Patagonia Wow suitable for bookmatched laying?

Yes, outstandingly so. The dramatic clast pattern, directional on one side, can be composed by mirroring adjacent slab pieces into impressive V, X or quad bookmatch patterns – the grade is particularly impressive as a statement wall cladding or a kitchen island with bookmatching. We recommend planning the slab layout before laying with our stone technology service.

Is Patagonia Wow suitable for kitchen worktops?

Yes, completely. The slab is heat-resistant (hot pans can be set down directly), almost completely acid-resistant (wine, vinegar, lemon and tomato leave no traces) and, at around Mohs 7, very scratch-resistant. Note: on the pale surface, wipe marks with a dark pigment remain more clearly visible – we recommend the Soft Touch version with a consistent wipe-after routine.

Patagonia Wow or genuine Patagonia quartzite?

Patagonia Wow (porcelain) is more even, more predictable, acid-resistant and fully UV-stable with a reproducibly consistent appearance – the rational choice for statement worktops and exterior applications with minimal care. Genuine Patagonia quartzite (a Brazilian premium natural stone, 600 – 1,000 million years old) looks geologically more authentic with individual batch variation and a unique appearance in every single slab, but is more expensive and requires individual batch selection. The choice is one between a reproducible dramatic effect with full everyday fitness (porcelain) and geological authenticity (natural quartzite).

Is Patagonia Wow suitable for exterior surfaces, façades and pool surrounds?

Yes, completely. Porcelain is UV-stable, frost- and weather-resistant and can be used as a rainscreen façade panel, exterior wall cladding, outdoor kitchen surface, pool surround and exterior floor covering.

Which cleaners may I use?

Permitted are warm water, all neutral, alkaline or mildly acidic cleaners, mild all-purpose cleaners and all commercially available sanitary and kitchen cleaners. The slab is almost completely acid-resistant. Taboo are exclusively hydrofluoric acid (HF) and fluoride-containing cleaners – these are not relevant in the home.

What does CTX BasicKeramik® ABK Patagonia Wow cost?

The price depends on the format, thickness, surface finish and fabrication — there is no serious flat rate per square metre. Business customers see prices once their B2B account is activated; private customers receive a complete quote through a fabricator near them.
