CTX BasicQuarz® 0122 Grey Pearl belongs to the ROSSITTIS house brand CTX BasicQuarz® — the in-house engineered quartz line of ROSSITTIS GmbH, produced at the main site in Holzwickede (North Rhine-Westphalia). With CTX BasicQuarz® we bring together a competitively calculated engineered quartz range for workshops, fabricators and end customers who are looking for a reliable, plannable material quality without the premium mark-up of internationally branded engineered quartz competitors. CTX BasicQuarz® belongs to the same house brand family as our CTX BasicKeramik® (porcelain via Italian upstream manufacturers, with ranges such as ABK and RES). Both lines share the same curated distribution and fabrication logic from the ROSSITTIS range.
The code 0122 marks Grey Pearl as a solid-colour variant with a fine-grained speckled structure. The slab image shows a light pearl-white to silver-grey base tone which, depending on the incidence of light, shifts between a cool, fresh off-white and a warm, mother-of-pearl-like pearl grey. A very finely distributed black to dark grey speckling is spread evenly across this base tone — like pulverised aggregate or finely ground pepper on a pearl-white surface. The impression is consistently even and controlled, without dramatic veining or larger mineral accents. Unlike the marble-inspired 5xxx codes of competing brands such as Caesarstone or Silestone, the image of CTX BasicQuarz® 0122 deliberately remains reduced to a solid-colour character — a calm, neutral stage for kitchens, bathrooms and interior architecture.
It is precisely this restraint in design that is the strength of the material. Grey Pearl does not compete with timber fronts, furniture surfaces, lighting or architectural details, but acts as a reliably neutral background material. In modern open-plan kitchens, hospitality and commercial architecture, domestic and practice bathrooms and living concepts with a light solid-colour aspiration, that is often exactly the material statement wanted. Combined with light timber (oak, ash, birch), Corten steel, brushed stainless steel, black steel, glass and reduced colour palettes, the pearl silver-grey base image develops a contemporary, calm and elegant atmosphere.
Technically, CTX BasicQuarz® is a classic polyester-bonded engineered quartz, produced in the Bretonstone® vacuum vibration process or a comparable compaction process: ground quartz aggregates of various grain sizes are mixed with unsaturated polyester binders and mineral pigments, filled into steel moulds and compacted under vacuum with simultaneous high-frequency vibration, then cured at around 90 °C. The result is an almost pore-free, very dense composite material with high strength and a consistently homogeneous appearance.
For the application this means: Grey Pearl is non-porous and needs no impregnation — the pore-free surface is stain-repellent ex works against most household substances. Mohs hardness 6–7 (quartz as the main component), good acid resistance to household acids, low water absorption. This makes the stone the logical choice for kitchen worktops, vanity tops, splashbacks and other heavily used internal surfaces that are meant to be easy to look after in everyday use.
Like all classic polyester engineered quartz, CTX BasicQuarz® also has two material limits: firstly the restricted heat resistance — the polyester binder begins to decompose from around 150–160 °C, which is why hot pans, pots or irons may only be set down on trivets. Secondly the lack of UV stability: the material may strictly only be used indoors, since direct solar radiation over several years can lead to discolouration and embrittlement of the binder. Anyone looking for a UV-stable engineered quartz solution for external applications is better served by Diresco BIO-UV (BU code prefix); anyone needing absolute heat resistance should switch to porcelain such as our own CTX BasicKeramik® or to premium brands such as Laminam, Lioli Porcelain or Caesarstone Mineral™.
At ROSSITTIS we currently stock Grey Pearl as 22 raw slabs in 20 mm thickness with a polished finish — the classic standard configuration for kitchen worktops, islands and vanity tops. For anyone comparing Grey Pearl with other materials: stylistically close are many neutral grey, mother-of-pearl solid-colour engineered quartz products from Caesarstone (such as 6041 Nordic Loft, 4030 Cosmopolitan White), Silestone (Pearl Jasmine, Niebla), Compac and the Diresco standard lines. CTX BasicQuarz® positions itself more attractively in price than the internationally branded names at a comparable material quality — the cost advantages arise from avoiding international marketing and distribution mark-ups. Anyone who wants the same solid-colour image in porcelain, with additional heat and UV resistance, should look towards CTX BasicKeramik® RES Cemento Grigio or comparable designs.
Our honest assessment: CTX BasicQuarz® 0122 Grey Pearl is a materially restrained, technically consistently designed material for projects that want a calm, neutral grey solid with the full ease of care of an engineered quartz — at an economically attractive house brand calculation. Anyone seeking maximum heat resistance, UV stability or brand prestige should turn to other material classes or premium brands. But anyone who wants the classic pearl silver-grey solid-colour look in reliable workshop quality will find CTX BasicQuarz® a decidedly sensible choice.
