Danilo is a Turkish limestone with a warm creamy beige ground and powerfully animated, almost karst-like veining in darker anthracite and gold accents. Turkish limestone (a carbonate sedimentary rock) from the extensive Anatolian carbonate sediments — a Mesozoic to Tertiary platform limestone of the Tethys shelf sedimentation. Mineralogically dominated by calcite. Mohs hardness approx. 3, acid-sensitive, good polishability. In the international stone trade it is in part also marketed as “marble” (a widespread Turkish convention) — petrographically, however, it is correctly a limestone, not a metamorphosed marble. Its character shows powerfully animated veining in warm cream yellow, anthracite grey and golden creamy accents.

About Danilo
Danilo is a Turkish limestone from the extensive carbonate sediments of the Anatolian peninsula — the largest continuous carbonate province of the eastern Mediterranean. Geologically it is a Mesozoic to Tertiary platform limestone, deposited in the shallow, warm shelf seas of the former Tethys. For decades Turkey has been one of the world's most productive exporters of limestone and marble, with an enormous variety of grades ranging from pale to dark and from calm to dramatically veined.
In the slab, Danilo shows a particularly characterful composition: a warm creamy beige to honey-cream ground, crossed by powerful flow paths in darker anthracite-grey and gold-cream accents. The veining reads as almost karst-like — flowing, animated, with irregular bands and depth accents that recall the typical carbonate dissolution and healing dramaturgy of Turkish limestones. In places the veins condense into powerful knots, then run softly again. A very lively, authentically stone-like appearance with a clear material history.
For the application that means: Danilo is a distinctly powerful choice for projects that want to set a striking Mediterranean accent with a warm Turkish limestone. Combined with warm timber (walnut, olive), brushed brass, bronze, sand-warm natural tones and muted earth tones, the material develops an atmospherically rich, natural-stone-luxurious effect.
Technically, like all carbonate limestones, Danilo is acid-sensitive (Mohs hardness approx. 3) and requires a corresponding awareness of care in the kitchen area. It polishes well and water absorption is moderate. For wall claddings, vanity tops, stairs and prestige interior surfaces the material is excellently suited — for heavily used kitchen worktops the acid sensitivity has to be taken into account.

Danilo is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.
Polished
Polishing is the most classic finish for marble and limestone — a glossy surface with the highest possible colour intensity and a pronounced depth to the veining. Depending on the mineral composition, the effect can be matte-gloss in places. Acid-sensitive — wine, lemon and vinegar leave etch marks after prolonged contact.
Care & fabrication
Danilo is a carbonate limestone and reacts sensitively to acids. Mohs hardness approx. 3.
Daily cleaning: a soft microfibre cloth, clear water and a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner.
Do not use: lemon-based, vinegar-based or acidic cleaners, descalers, abrasives, steel wool. On a polished surface these leave dull etch marks.
Sealing: recommended immediately after installation and, depending on the loading, every 12–18 months.
Kitchen worktop: only with an awareness of care. Wipe up acidic splashes immediately. Do not set hot pans down directly. Cutting work exclusively on a separate chopping board.
Vanity top and bathroom: wipe away limescale-bearing water splashes regularly. Never remove limescale rings around the tap with a descaler — these etch the limestone immediately.
Repair: etch marks and scratches can be evened out by professional re-polishing.

Is Danilo suitable for external applications?
Conditionally. Like all Turkish limestones, Danilo is suitable for external use given correct constructional detailing with drainage and sealing, but it is not the first choice for floor areas under heavy frost loading. For façades, wall elements and covered external areas it is well suited.
