DIRESCO Quarz AU600 Beach Medium Grey

Diresco BU/AU600 Beach Medium Grey is a BIO-UV engineered quartz from Diresco's Beach collection with an even mid-grey concrete-asphalt ground tone and the finest, evenly distributed dark speckling. UV-stable and therefore expressly approved for exterior applications — outdoor kitchens, pool surrounds, façades and terrace tables without loss of warranty.

UV-stabilised polyester engineered quartz from the Diresco BIO UV line (AU code prefix for the Beach collection). Main constituents: ground natural quartz in various grain sizes (~93 %), modified UV-stable polymer binder and mineral pigments. Manufactured using the Bretonstone® vacuum vibration process at Diresco NV in Opglabbeek, Belgium. Mohs hardness 6–7, non-porous, no impregnation required. Unlike classic polyester engineered quartz surfaces (Caesarstone Quartz Surfaces, Silestone standard, CTX BasicQuarz®, Compac), the BIO UV line is explicitly UV-stable and therefore approved for direct sunlight outdoors — outdoor kitchens, pool surrounds, façades, terrace tables. Heat resistance up to approx. 160 °C (Diresco factory specification). AU600 Beach Medium Grey is the medium-grey solid-colour variant of the Beach collection with a fine, mineral-textured speckling. Related Beach designs: AU300 Beach Iceberg (lighter), Belgian Grey collection (BU011 Belgian Fog, BU012 Belgian Storm, BU015 Belgian Earth, BU041 Nature Beige).

About DIRESCO Quarz AU600 Beach Medium Grey

Diresco AU600 Beach Medium Grey belongs to the Beach collection of the Belgian engineered quartz manufacturer Diresco NV (based in Opglabbeek, province of Limburg, Belgium). Alongside Caesarstone, Cosentino-Silestone and Compac, Diresco is among the European premium manufacturers of polyester engineered quartz and has established a particular technical differentiation in the market with its BIO-UV line: materials with the AU or BU code prefix use a modified UV-stable binder system (instead of the classic unsaturated polyester) that remains permanently colour-fast outdoors as well — a property that classic engineered quartz materials such as Caesarstone Quartz Surfaces, the Silestone standard lines or our own CTX BasicQuarz® do not offer.

Finishes

DIRESCO Quarz AU600 Beach Medium Grey is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Polished

A glossy surface with the highest possible degree of colour intensity — the standard finish in the engineered stone and engineered quartz segment. Easy to care for in everyday use and resistant to common household acids. A prestigious choice for kitchen worktops, wall claddings and exposed surfaces with a classic high-gloss character.

Velvet

The surface is brushed, much like a satin finish — softer minerals are removed and a subtle depth with a matte effect is created. The velvety soft feel is characteristic and design-led. Easy to maintain and suited to everyday use; an elegant choice for demanding kitchen and wall surfaces where a softly tactile appearance is wanted.

Care & fabrication

Diresco AU600 Beach Medium Grey is a non-porous BIO-UV engineered quartz and needs no impregnation.

Daily cleaning: a soft microfibre cloth, warm water, mild washing-up liquid or a neutral multi-purpose cleaner. Afterwards wipe over with clear water and polish dry. Pale to mid-grey concrete-look surfaces benefit from regular cleaning, because films of grease and limescale can otherwise disturb the calm effect of the surface.

Do not use: scouring agents, steel wool, coarse cleaning pads, highly concentrated acids (hydrochloric acid, sulphuric acid), strongly alkaline cleaners (oven cleaners, drain cleaners), acetone-based solvents or chlorine-based bleaches — in case of accidental contact, rinse off immediately with plenty of water.

Heat resistance: for the Beach line, Diresco states a direct heat exposure of around 160 °C on a dry surface — somewhat more than with classic polyester engineered quartz materials, but not unlimited. Hot pans, pots and irons should therefore ALWAYS be set on trivets here too. For maximum heat resistance, choose porcelain.

UV stability: yes, complete. The BIO-UV line is expressly approved for direct sunlight outdoors — outdoor kitchens, pool surrounds, façades and terrace tables are unproblematic fields of application that would not be possible with classic engineered quartz materials.

Kitchen worktop: cutting work exclusively on a separate chopping board — a Mohs hardness of 6–7 protects against everyday scratches, but steel knives in combination with hard residues of the food being cut can produce fine micro-scratches.

Stain treatment: wipe fresh splashes (wine, coffee, tomato sauce, turmeric) away immediately. Remove stubborn stains with warm water, a soft cloth and a neutral all-purpose cleaner — NO scouring agent, NO concentrated acid.

Exterior application: regular cleaning of pollen, bird droppings, algae growth, de-icing salt residues and plant sap with warm water and a neutral stone cleaner. In winter: rinse off splashes of de-icing salt thoroughly in spring, because salts can lead to encrustation on any material surface.

Repair: fine micro-scratches in the polish can be evened out by proper re-polishing. With deeper mechanical damage, a Diresco fabricator works with colour-matched repair fillers and a final re-polishing or re-grinding of the Velvet or Anticato finish.

Frequently asked questions

What does the AU in the code AU600 mean?

In the Diresco coding system, AU stands for the Beach collection within the BIO-UV line. The BIO-UV line comprises two main collections: BU codes for the Belgian Grey collection (Belgian Fog BU011, Belgian Storm BU012, Belgian Earth BU015) and AU codes for the Beach collection (Beach Iceberg AU300, Beach Medium Grey AU600, Nature Beige BU041 with a BU crossover). Both collections are UV-stable and suitable for exterior use.

Can I use Beach Medium Grey outdoors?

Yes, expressly. The BIO-UV line is approved for all common exterior applications: outdoor kitchens, pool surrounds, terrace tables, façade elements, covered and openly weathered surfaces. For the BIO-UV line, Diresco grants an exterior warranty that the Diresco standard lines (and Caesarstone, Silestone standard, CTX BasicQuarz® etc.) do not have.

How does AU600 differ from AU300 Beach Iceberg and BU011 Belgian Fog?

AU300 Beach Iceberg is the palest Beach version (almost white with silver-grey speckling), AU600 Beach Medium Grey is the mid-grey version (matter-of-fact mid-grey, neutral) and BU011 Belgian Fog is the pale grey, clouded version of the Belgian Grey collection with a different play of veining. Which version suits depends on the desired brightness and tonality of the concrete/sand look.

What is Diresco AU600 Beach Medium Grey made of?

A polyester engineered quartz with a modified UV-stable binder system (BIO-UV). Main constituents: ground natural quartz of various grain sizes (~93 %), UV-stabilised polymer binder and mineral pigments. Manufactured by the Bretonstone® vacuum vibro-compaction process. Non-porous, no impregnation required.

Is Beach Medium Grey heat-resistant like porcelain?

No, not entirely. For the Beach line, Diresco states a direct heat exposure of up to around 160 °C — somewhat more than with classic polyester engineered quartz materials (150 °C), but not as unlimited as with genuine porcelain (Laminam, Lioli Porcelain, CTX BasicKeramik®), which withstands direct pan heat without a trivet. For maximum insensitivity to heat, porcelain is the more robust choice.

In which thicknesses and finishes is Beach Medium Grey available?

Ex works, Diresco produces Beach Medium Grey in 12, 20 and 30 mm thickness with three standard finishes: Poli (polished), Velvet (matt and velvety) and Anticato (rustically brushed). In current ROSSITTIS stock we carry 12 mm and 20 mm in polished and velvet. Diresco standard slab format: 318 × 155 cm.

Beach Medium Grey or genuine Belgian bluestone?

Genuine Belgian bluestone (Pierre Bleue / Petit Granit) is markedly darker and more textured, geologically more authentic, but with an open-pored carbonate structure it is acid-sensitive and care-intensive. Beach Medium Grey is paler, finely mineral-speckled and technically consistently designed — acid-resistant, insensitive to staining and fully suitable for exterior use. The choice depends on the desired tonality and material authenticity.

How much material do you currently have in stock?

We currently carry 22 raw slabs of Diresco AU600 Beach Medium Grey in 12 mm and 20 mm thickness, with polished and velvet finishes. Standard slab format 318 × 155 cm. For larger projects and continuous exterior-interior applications we recommend a prompt reservation.

What does DIRESCO Quarz AU600 Beach Medium Grey cost?

The price depends on the format, thickness, surface finish and fabrication — there is no serious flat rate per square metre. Business customers see prices once their B2B account is activated; private customers receive a complete quote through a fabricator near them.
