Duke White

Duke White is a light grey-white Italian granite with a directional gneiss structure and a clear, technical effect. At ROSSITTIS it is used for floors, façades, stairs and external paving whenever a pale, resilient natural stone with more character than a standard granite is sought.

About Duke White

Duke White is a pale hard stone with a clear direction. Its colouring lies between white, light grey and silvery tones, joined by a linear, gneiss-like structure that gives the surface tension without becoming loud. This makes the stone look technical, precise and architectural. Particularly in stair installations, façades, external areas and modern interiors this is very convincing.

The stone comes from Italy, from the Domodossola area. Petrographically Duke White is a gneiss, but in the trade it is used clearly as a granite, or rather as a hard stone. Compared with homogeneously grained granites such as New Caledonia it shows more direction and therefore makes more of a design statement. Against Luserna it appears lighter and often somewhat finer, but likewise remains clearly within the segment of robust Alpine external stones.

Finishes

Duke White is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Polished

Polishing is the most classic finish in the hard stone segment — a mirror-smooth, high-gloss surface with the highest possible colour intensity and maximum depth effect in the mineral structure. As an acid-resistant silicate stone, polished granite is easy to care for and the first choice for kitchen worktops, wall claddings and prestigious exposed surfaces.

Care & fabrication

As a hard external and internal stone, Duke White is easy to care for, but on kitchen, bathroom and window sill surfaces it should nevertheless be sealed. That makes cleaning and care easier and reduces the ingress of dirt.

For ongoing cleaning, pH-neutral natural stone cleaners, water and a soft cloth are sufficient. Outdoors, water, a broom and a gentle deep clean when needed are usually enough.

Aggressive chemicals are rarely necessary. What matters far more is functioning drainage, clean installation and a finish that suits the use.

On pale external surfaces in particular, organic soiling should be removed regularly. That keeps the colour clear and the surface technically clean in the long term.
