About Elegant Grey

Elegant Grey comes from Brazil, the world's largest exporter of dimension stone. The country has exceptionally rich deposits of various metamorphic and igneous rocks — gneisses, granites, quartzites — which are quarried in the main extraction regions of Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo and Bahia. Petrographically, Elegant Grey is a gneiss, a highly metamorphosed silicate rock with characteristic parallel banding formed by the recrystallisation of older rocks under high pressure and high temperature. In the stone trade, Elegant Grey is listed as a granite, as are almost all Brazilian gneisses — an internationally established trade nomenclature that follows technical usability and makes it easier for the customer to place the material as a hard, acid-resistant dimension stone.

Politur ist die klassischste Veredelung im Hartgesteinsegment — eine spiegelglatte, hochglänzende Oberfläche mit höchstmöglicher Farbintensität und maximaler Tiefenwirkung der Mineralstruktur. Als säurebeständiges Silikatgestein ist polierter Granit pflegeleicht und für Küchenarbeitsplatten, Wandverkleidungen und repräsentative Sichtflächen erste Wahl.

Satiniert

Die satinierte Oberfläche entsteht durch Bürsten, das weichere Minerale gezielt entfernt und der Fläche eine leichte Tiefe gibt. Mattes Erscheinungsbild mit subtiler Lichtreflexion und haptisch warmer Wirkung. Pflegeleicht, kratzunempfindlich und alltagstauglich — beliebte Alternative zur Politur in modernen Küchen und Wohnräumen.

Poliert RS satiniert

Beidseitig einsetzbare Platte: polierte Sichtseite mit höchstmöglicher Farbintensität und Spiegelglanz, Rückseite satiniert (gebürstet) mit matter, taktil warmer Anmutung. Eine flexible Konstruktion für Anwendungen, in denen Glanz- und Mattseiten je nach Einbauumgebung gewünscht sind.

Care & fabrication

As a silicate rock, Elegant Grey is fully acid-resistant — lemon juice, vinegar, wine, cola and other acidic substances do not attack the stone. That makes it considerably easier to care for and more suited to everyday use than limestones and marbles. Warm water and a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner are sufficient for daily cleaning; aggressive household cleaners and abrasive sponges should always be avoided, as they can mechanically damage the polished surface. Professional sealing after installation is recommended — it protects the surface against oil stains (coffee, olive oil, red wine) and makes daily care easier. Hot pans are unproblematic for short periods; for sustained heat, trivets are advisable. Outdoors, re-sealing every 2–3 years is sensible, and de-icing salt should be replaced with chloride-free de-icers.
