About Juparana Colombo

Juparana Colombo is a stone for projects that seek warmth and movement without tipping into restlessness. The material shows pink, beige, light grey and in places yellowish-brown zones in a cloudy, flowing image. Unlike evenly grained granites, Juparana Colombo lives from structure and transitions. On stairs, floors, window sills and worktops it therefore appears very lively while remaining harmonious enough for large areas. It is precisely this mixture that has made the stone a sought-after classic in the granite market for years.

Finishes

Juparana Colombo is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Poliert

Juparana Colombo should be sealed after installation, particularly on kitchen worktops and pale joint patterns. The sealer makes cleaning and care easier and supports an even everyday appearance.

For cleaning and care, pH-neutral natural stone cleaners, warm water and a soft cloth are enough. On polished surfaces, greasy or limescale residues should be removed regularly.

Avoid strongly abrasive products and aggressive special cleaners without natural stone approval. Coffee, oil or coloured foods should not be left to act on worktops unnecessarily long.

Outdoors, clean drainage, regular cleaning and a suitable finish are decisive. Frost is less of a problem with this stone than visual soiling on textured surfaces.

Frequently asked questions

Is Juparana Colombo suitable for a kitchen?

Yes. Juparana Colombo reaches a bulk density of 2,570–2,623 kg/m³, a compressive strength of 154.8–164 MPa, a flexural strength of 12.0–13.6 MPa and water absorption of 0.18–0.26 %. It is therefore readily usable as a kitchen worktop.

Which finishes are available for Juparana Colombo?

The finishes available from stock are listed in the »Finishes« block on this page.

Where does Juparana Colombo come from?

The stone comes from Tamil Nadu in India. In the market it is carried as a granite; petrographically it is a migmatite.

How do I clean Juparana Colombo correctly?

For cleaning and care, a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner is sufficient. On polished and warm-toned surfaces in particular, grease and limescale residues should not be allowed to dry on.

Is Juparana Colombo frost-resistant?

Yes. Juparana Colombo is regarded as frost-resistant and, with a suitable finish, is well suited to external applications such as stairs, steps and façade areas.

Is Juparana Colombo really a granite?

In the trade yes, petrographically no. Juparana Colombo is a migmatite. What is decisive for use is that it behaves like a robust hard stone and is established in the granite market.
