Jura Gelb banded is a Franconian Jura limestone with a warm, golden-yellow ground colour and a characteristic horizontal banding. As one of the best-known German natural stones, it combines historical significance with contemporary applicability.
Jura Gelb banded comes from the Franconian Jura in Bavaria and is one of the best-known and most widely worked German natural stones. It belongs to the group of Jura limestones, which were deposited in the Upper Jurassic some 150 million years ago in a tropical shallow sea. The characteristic bands – horizontal stripes in yellow, golden brown and light beige – are the direct image of these sediment layers.
The warm, sunny ground colour of Jura Gelb banded makes it one of the most popular limestones for prestige surfaces: it is found in traditional Bavarian farmhouses just as much as in contemporary architecture and international projects. The colouring harmonises particularly well with timber tones, warm render tones and Mediterranean interior concepts.
As a limestone from the Franconian Jura, this stone has a medium hardness and good workability, but it is more sensitive to acids than granite or quartzite. The banding and the wealth of fossils – occasionally you can see the impressions of shells or ammonites – make every slab a small piece of natural history.
At ROSSITTIS, Jura Gelb banded is available as floor slabs, tiles, stair covering, window sill and in special formats.

Finishes
Jura gelb gebändert is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.
Poliert
Jura Gelb banded should be sealed after installation and cared for regularly with a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner. Limestone reacts sensitively to acids – take up lemon juice, vinegar or descaler at once. For daily cleaning a soft cloth with clear water is sufficient. In some batches the warm colouring can vary slightly in lightness through moisture.
