Kashmir Fantasy is an Indian granulite from the high-grade metamorphic shield areas of India — presumably from the southern Indian Dharwar Craton or the Eastern Ghats Mobile Belt, the same geological structure from which other Indian premium granulites are also won.
Geologically it is a granulite (a rock of the highest metamorphic grade) — a metamorphic rock transformed under extremely high pressure and temperature conditions (often 8–15 kbar at 800–1,000 °C) in the deep mantle or the lower crust. Granulites typically show a granular crystalline fabric with garnet, pyroxene, feldspar and quartz components. Within the material class, granulites often show a particularly high compressive strength and hardness, markedly above classic granites.
In the slab image, Kashmir Fantasy shows a bright creamy-white ground tone with a powerfully animated vein pattern in dark grey, anthracite-black and golden bronze warm tones. The image is accentuated by characteristic warm pink to reddish-brown garnet phenocrysts, distributed across the surface like small set gemstones. In places, subtle foliation lines and more powerful movement paths can be recognised, reflecting the original metamorphic direction of pressure — an exceptionally multi-layered, almost geologically narrative slab image.
For the application this means: Kashmir Fantasy is a decidedly powerful choice for kitchen worktops, islands, vanity tops, wall cladding, stairs and prestige interior surfaces. The bright tonality with warm garnet accents and dark veining harmonises excellently with warm timber, bronze, brass, Corten steel and muted earth tones.
Technically, Kashmir Fantasy is a high-performance dimension stone. Indian granulites typically show a Mohs hardness of around 7 (higher than classic granites), high compressive strength, low water absorption, complete acid resistance, heat resistance and frost resistance. Steel knives leave no scratches, wine and lemon no etch marks, and hot pans can be set down directly.
At ROSSITTIS we currently carry Kashmir Fantasy as 18 raw slabs in 30 mm thickness with a polished surface. The 30 mm thickness is particularly suited to heavily loaded kitchen worktops and prestige islands. On request we produce all common dimension stone applications from them.
For anyone comparing Kashmir Fantasy with other materials: stylistically close are Kashmir White, New Kashmir White and other Indian granulite grades. Among the pale garnet-bearing dimension stones, Branco Franciscato (a Brazilian gneiss), Madurai Gold and some Finnish migmatites are related.

Care & fabrication
Kashmir Fantasy is a dense granulite of the highest hardness (Mohs hardness ~7), with high compressive strength and complete acid, heat and frost resistance.
Daily cleaning: a soft microfibre cloth, warm water and a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner.
Do not use: concentrated acids, steel wool.
Sealing: on polished surfaces, recommended every 18–36 months depending on use. On the bright tonality, sealing is important in order to prevent oil and food stains.
Kitchen worktop: hot pans can be set down directly, and steel knives leave no scratches.
Repair: scratches in the polish can be evened out by professional re-polishing.
