Labrador Blue GT is a classic Norwegian syenite from the famous Larvik complex in south-west Norway — the most tradition-rich deposit of labradorescent natural dimension stones in Europe. Characteristic is a silvery grey to blue-grey base colour with a fine- to medium-grained mineral texture, in which the trade character of the Labrador family unfolds: individual labradorite feldspar crystals light up in intense blue, violet and occasionally also gold and green, depending on how the light falls. This so-called labradorescence arises from thin mineral layers within the feldspar crystals at which light interferes at specific wavelengths — a purely optical phenomenon that becomes fully visible only on polished surfaces. Geologically, Labrador Blue GT is a syenite from the Permian Larvik pluton complex in the province of Vestfold in southern Norway — one of the world's most important syenite deposits. Syenites are igneous plutonic rocks, mineralogically related to granite but characterised by a lower quartz content and a higher potassium feldspar content. In the international stone trade, syenites are consistently assigned to the hard stones and listed under “granite”, since they behave technically like classic hard granites. The Larvik complex supplies the whole family of labradorescent stones: Labrador Blue Pearl Classic, Labrador Hell, Labrador Dunkel, Labrador Acier — all with a similar mineralogy but a different selection of the iridescence.
The technical values place Labrador Blue GT clearly in the class of robust hard stones: high compressive strength, low water absorption well below 0.5 per cent, frost-resistant to DIN EN 12371, acid-resistant within the normal application range. The material is therefore suitable without restriction for demanding external and internal applications — including in Central European climate zones with hard winters and de-icing salt exposure. Compared with the Egersund anorthosite Labrador Antic, Labrador Blue GT (a Larvik syenite) is finer-grained, with a silvery grey rather than a dark base colour and a considerably more even mineral distribution.

Polished
Polishing is the most classic finish in the hard stone segment — a mirror-smooth, high-gloss surface with the highest possible colour intensity and maximum depth effect in the mineral structure. As an acid-resistant silicate stone, polished granite is easy to care for and the first choice for kitchen worktops, wall claddings and prestigious exposed surfaces.
Satin-honed
The satin surface is created by brushing, which selectively removes softer minerals and gives the surface a slight depth. A matte appearance with subtle light reflection and a warm feel to the touch. Easy to maintain, insensitive to scratches and suited to everyday use — a popular alternative to a polish in modern kitchens and living spaces.
Flamed + brushed once
The surface is roughened by heat and brushed once to smooth sharp-edged mineral residues and remove loose material. The feel is somewhat gentler than purely flamed, it remains slip-resistant, and the colour is less intense than polished. The standard choice for outdoor areas, terraces and heavily used floor areas.
Care & fabrication
As a Norwegian syenite, Labrador Blue GT can be maintained over the long term and cleaned without difficulty. For kitchen worktops, external paving and heavily used floor areas we recommend a silane- or polysiloxane-based sealer as protection against red wine, coffee, oil and tomato sauce. Routine cleaning is done with a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner and a soft microfibre cloth or mop. You should avoid strongly alkaline heavy-duty cleaners and abrasive steel wool. Outdoors, Labrador Blue GT is frost-resistant — rinse off de-icing salt residues in spring. We recommend refreshing the sealer every three to five years.
