About Labrador Scuro Normale

Labrador Scuro Normale comes from Norway and belongs to the family of labradorite stones, which are petrographically classified as anorthosites. Anorthosites are igneous rocks with a high proportion of plagioclase feldspars that show the phenomenon of labradorescence: an optical play of colour in blue, green, gold and copper, which arises through the refraction of light at fine mineral lamellae.

The designation “Scuro” (Italian for dark) and “Normale” distinguishes this stone from the strongly shimmering versions such as Emerald Pearl or Blue Pearl: Labrador Scuro Normale shows a discreet, silvery metallic shimmer on a dark background, without the intense play of colour of the more pronounced labradorite varieties. That makes it a more elegant, calmer version within the Labrador family.

Flamed + brushed once

The surface is roughened by heat and brushed once to smooth sharp-edged mineral residues and remove loose material. The feel is somewhat gentler than purely flamed, it remains slip-resistant, and the colour is less intense than polished. The standard choice for outdoor areas, terraces and heavily used floor areas.

Care & fabrication

A granite such as Labrador Scuro Normale is extraordinarily easy to care for and robust. An impregnation is often not required, but can prevent fats and oils from penetrating in very porous batches. Daily cleaning with clean water or a mild, pH-neutral cleaner is entirely sufficient. Aggressive cleaners or scouring agents can leave the material surface matt.
