About Laguna Black
Laguna Black is a black Brazilian hard rock with a strong pictorial effect. The ground surface is deep black to anthracite, run through by often dramatic white to silver-grey veins, movements and lines. This produces a very lively picture that turns out differently in every slab. Anyone looking for a calm, homogeneous black stone is in the wrong place — Laguna Black is deliberately expressive and lives on the contrast between dense black and pale movement.
The stone comes from Brazil and is traded in the market as a hard rock — visually and technically it falls into the family of dark Brazilian quartzites and related metamorphic-plutonic hard rocks. The Spanish marble of the same name from Alconera (Badajoz) is a different material and does not apply to the Laguna Black carried by ROSSITTIS. Compared with marbles such as Nero Marquina, Laguna Black is more uncompromising in technical terms and in everyday fitness; compared with calm black granites it is markedly more dramatic in its picture.
Technically, Laguna Black is robustly set up as a black hard rock — acid resistance, frost resistance and everyday fitness are fundamentally very good. That means: citrus, vinegar, wine and limescale removers do the surface no harm, hot pots are not a problem, and the stone is also resilient enough for exterior or terrace applications. Density and strengths lie in the range typical of hard rock (~2,700–2,900 kg/m³ bulk density, water absorption markedly below 0.5 %). For kitchen worktops, vanity tops, floors and façades that is a profile very well suited to everyday use.

The honest assessment: Laguna Black is not a background stone. Polished
Polishing is the most classic finish in the hard stone segment — a mirror-smooth, high-gloss surface with the highest possible colour intensity and maximum depth effect in the mineral structure. As an acid-resistant silicate stone, polished granite is easy to care for and the first choice for kitchen worktops, wall claddings and prestigious exposed surfaces.
Satin-honed
The satin surface is created by brushing, which selectively removes softer minerals and gives the surface a slight depth. A matte appearance with subtle light reflection and a warm feel to the touch. Easy to maintain, insensitive to scratches and suited to everyday use — a popular alternative to a polish in modern kitchens and living spaces.
Polished, reverse satin-honed
A slab usable on both sides: a polished face side with the highest possible colour intensity and mirror gloss, the reverse satin-finished (brushed) with a matt, tactilely warm appeal. A flexible construction for applications in which gloss and matt sides are wanted depending on the installation setting.
Care & fabrication
As a black hard rock, Laguna Black is easy to care for. An impregnation is not obligatory, but makes sense on polished worktops — it makes cleaning and care easier and reduces visible water and soap rings.
For cleaning and care, pH-neutral natural stone cleaners and a soft microfibre cloth are enough. Because the stone is acid-resistant, citrus, wine or vinegar do the surface no harm — a clear advantage over black marbles.
On polished dark surfaces, water marks, limescale rings and fingerprints become visible more quickly than on matt surfaces. Regular dry wiping keeps the look even. Outdoors, a slip-resistant textured finish and clean laying matter more than care chemistry. As a hard rock, Laguna Black remains permanently resilient there.
