About Miros Typ Merlin®

Miros Typ Merlin is a characteristic grade of the Turkish Miros limestone family — one of the established Mediterranean limestones on the European market, with a warm ground colour shifting between beige and light brown. Characteristic is a quietly flowing, very fine-grained mineral texture without pronounced veins or brecciated format — the slab pattern appears elegant, Mediterranean and flexible to work with in planning. At ROSSITTIS we carry Miros Typ Merlin for wall cladding, interior floors, window sills, plinth details, pool surrounds under cover, fountain surrounds, reliefs, columns and project-specific bespoke work where a warm Mediterranean feel is wanted.

Finishes

Miros Typ Merlin® is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Satiniert

As a calcareous Mediterranean natural stone, Miros Typ Merlin is acid-sensitive and requires appropriate care. Immediately after installation we recommend a silane- or polysiloxane-based sealer — it protects against staining from wine, coffee, oil or tomato sauce and reduces water absorption. Routine cleaning is done with a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner and a soft microfibre cloth or mop; clear water alone is almost always sufficient for daily care. You should avoid acidic cleaners (vinegar, citric acid, descalers), aggressive all-purpose cleaners and abrasive pads at all costs — they etch the calcareous stone and can cause visible dull marks. Take up spilled acids on interior surfaces promptly. We recommend refreshing the sealer every two to three years depending on exposure.

Frequently asked questions

What is Miros Typ Merlin?

Miros Typ Merlin is a characteristic grade of the Turkish Miros limestone family — a Mediterranean limestone with a warm cream-beige to light brown ground tone and a quietly flowing, fine-grained mineral texture. Source of the identification as a Turkish limestone: Magna.

Which finishes are available for Miros Typ Merlin?

The surface finishes currently held in stock are listed in the »Finishes« block on this page.

Is Miros Typ Merlin suitable for kitchen worktops?

With qualifications. As a calcareous natural stone, Miros Typ Merlin is acid-sensitive — wine, lemon juice, vinegar or tomato sauce can leave visible dull marks after prolonged contact. With good sealing the material can be used for design-led bar counters or breakfast surfaces — for classic main worktops with high acid exposure, hard rocks or quartzites are better suited.

Is Miros Typ Merlin suitable for external surfaces?

Well usable under cover — for wall cladding, pool surrounds under cover and window sills. Where there is direct exposure to weathering in freeze-thaw zones or under de-icing salt exposure we recommend a project-specific suitability assessment.

Where is Miros Typ Merlin quarried?

The material comes from the Turkish natural stone producing regions — Turkey is one of the world's most important producers of pale Mediterranean limestones. Source of the identification: Magna.

How do I clean and care for Miros Typ Merlin?

Daily care with a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner and a soft microfibre cloth. Acidic cleaners (vinegar, citric acid, descalers) and aggressive all-purpose cleaners must be avoided at all costs — they etch the calcareous stone. A silane-based sealer after installation is mandatory. Refresh every two to three years.
