About Argentum
Argentum is the silver-grey side of Spanish limestone. Its colouring moves between a dense silver-grey, warm grey-beige and matt stone tones, together with a very fine-grained, homogeneous structure. This makes the stone appear calm, modern and architectural — without the warm beige world of classic Spanish limestones such as Crema Marfil. For floors, wall cladding, stairs and window sills in understated interiors, that is very coherent.
The stone comes from Spain and belongs to the compact, finely figured limestones of the Iberian peninsula. Internationally the trade name Argentum is in part also used for an Italian travertine from the Tivoli area — that is a different material. Rossittis Argentum is a Spanish limestone, not a travertine: it has the compact, closed surface of a dense limestone, not the typical open-pored layered structure of a travertine. Compared with Jura Grey, Argentum appears somewhat cooler and more silvery; compared with darker Spanish limestones such as Piedra Cenia, markedly lighter.
Technically, Argentum sits within the classic profile of dense Spanish limestones: around 2,600–2,700 kg/m³ bulk density, water absorption typically in the 0.3–0.8 % range, compressive strength mostly 100–160 MPa. That is denser and more resilient than many a soft beige limestone and makes for a very good field of use in interior floors, wall surfaces, stairs and sheltered external details. Important for planning: Argentum is a limestone and therefore acid-sensitive. Citrus, vinegar, wine and limescale removers attack the surface — for kitchens this has to be deliberately allowed for; external surfaces must above all be drained, and matt finishes chosen.

Care & fabrication
As a Spanish limestone, Argentum should be sealed carefully on floors, stairs and in wet areas. This makes cleaning and maintenance easier and reduces the penetration of water, soap and coloured liquids.
For cleaning and maintenance, pH-neutral natural stone cleaners, clear water and soft cloths are suitable. Acidic cleaners, descalers, vinegar and citrus products are unsuitable for limestone and leave dull etched patches.
In kitchens and bathrooms, coffee, wine, citrus and oily foods should not be allowed to dry on. Gentle, regular cleaning and maintenance is the best strategy with limestone.
For interior floors, wall surfaces and stairs, Argentum stays looking very good over the long term with consistent care. For heavily weathered external surfaces it is not a safe choice — sheltered external details work well.
