Finishes

Padang TG36 Dunkelgrau is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Polished

Polishing is the most classic finish in the hard stone segment — a mirror-smooth, high-gloss surface with the highest possible colour intensity and maximum depth effect in the mineral structure. As an acid-resistant silicate stone, polished granite is easy to care for and the first choice for kitchen worktops, wall claddings and prestigious exposed surfaces.

Satin-honed

The satin surface is created by brushing, which selectively removes softer minerals and gives the surface a slight depth. A matte appearance with subtle light reflection and a warm feel to the touch. Easy to maintain, insensitive to scratches and suited to everyday use — a popular alternative to a polish in modern kitchens and living spaces.

Honed C120

A matt appearance created by coarse honing with C120 grit — the level surface shows a more restrained colour intensity than polished and can carry visible honing marks. Compared with a polish it is more maintenance-intensive but stylistically calmer; the preferred choice for modern interior architecture with reduced reflection.

River finish

The surface is roughened by water pressure and then given a colour-enhancing treatment — the shade comes through more strongly than on the flamed-and-brushed variant. Recommended for outdoor areas, terraces and façade claddings that call for a level, slip-resistant surface with a powerful depth of colour.

Flamed + brushed once

The surface is roughened by heat and brushed once to smooth sharp-edged mineral residues and remove loose material. The feel is somewhat gentler than purely flamed, it remains slip-resistant, and the colour is less intense than polished. The standard choice for outdoor areas, terraces and heavily used floor areas.

Care & fabrication

Padang TG36 Dunkelgrau is very easy to care for, but should nevertheless be impregnated, especially on horizontal surfaces. With a water absorption of 0.08 % the stone is exceptionally dense and robust in everyday use.

For cleaning and care, pH-neutral natural stone cleaners and clear water are sufficient. On darker surfaces it is advisable not to let water residue dry on, so that no limescale veils become visible.

Avoid strongly abrasive cleaning agents and unnecessarily aggressive specialist chemicals. Oil, coffee or coloured liquids should nevertheless be taken up promptly from worktops, even though the stone technically forgives a great deal.

Outdoors, regular cleaning, clean drainage and restrained use of de-icing salt help to keep the surface visually clean and durable in the long term.
