About Padang TG36 Dunkelgrau
Padang TG36 Dunkelgrau is the darker, more serious answer to the lighter Padang variants. The material shows an even anthracite to dark grey image with a fine grain and little visual movement. That makes it look matter-of-fact, durable and very calm across large areas. This is precisely why this stone is so often chosen for window sills, external staircases, terraces, kitchen worktops, wall copings and darker contract construction. Anyone looking for a dark granite that works not as an expensive exclusive but practically, robustly and durably arrives at TG36 quickly.
Padang TG36 comes from China. On the market it is traded as granite; geologically it is also described in part as a quartz-dioritic hard rock. What is decisive for planning is that the material is used in a very even, acid-resistant and frost-resistant way. Compared with Black Cosmic or Star Galaxy, TG36 is considerably calmer and more sober. Compared with black natural stone it looks lighter, but is visually more forgiving and therefore fits well into functional exterior architecture and price-conscious interior projects.
The technical values clearly support this picture: the bulk density is 2,630 kg/m³, the compressive strength 170 MPa and the water absorption only 0.08 %. In addition, Padang TG36 is regarded as frost-resistant, acid-resistant and polish-resistant. This very low water absorption makes it particularly interesting for window sills, terraces and external staircases. In everyday terms that means: dense, insensitive, structurally well manageable and thus a classic stone for applications where reliability matters more than prestige.
The surface finishes available in stock are listed in the »Finishes« block further down. A brushed finish can be interesting where more tactile quality is wanted without making the material restless. At ROSSITTIS, Padang TG36 Dunkelgrau is available as a raw slab, in tiles, as tread and riser, as a window sill, as skirting, as a terrace slab and as a kitchen worktop.
The honest assessment: Padang TG36 Dunkelgrau is not a stone for spectacular natural stone stagings. It lives not on exoticism but on practical quality. Anyone looking for a dark material with a lot of character and a luxurious effect will be better served by Cosmic Black or Labrador. Anyone who needs a dark, honest granite for durable construction and contract surfaces does little wrong with TG36.

Padang TG36 Dunkelgrau is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.
Polished
Polishing is the most classic finish in the hard stone segment — a mirror-smooth, high-gloss surface with the highest possible colour intensity and maximum depth effect in the mineral structure. As an acid-resistant silicate stone, polished granite is easy to care for and the first choice for kitchen worktops, wall claddings and prestigious exposed surfaces.
Satin-honed
The satin surface is created by brushing, which selectively removes softer minerals and gives the surface a slight depth. A matte appearance with subtle light reflection and a warm feel to the touch. Easy to maintain, insensitive to scratches and suited to everyday use — a popular alternative to a polish in modern kitchens and living spaces.
Honed C120
A matt appearance created by coarse honing with C120 grit — the level surface shows a more restrained colour intensity than polished and can carry visible honing marks. Compared with a polish it is more maintenance-intensive but stylistically calmer; the preferred choice for modern interior architecture with reduced reflection.
River finish
The surface is roughened by water pressure and then given a colour-enhancing treatment — the shade comes through more strongly than on the flamed-and-brushed variant. Recommended for outdoor areas, terraces and façade claddings that call for a level, slip-resistant surface with a powerful depth of colour.
Flamed + brushed once
The surface is roughened by heat and brushed once to smooth sharp-edged mineral residues and remove loose material. The feel is somewhat gentler than purely flamed, it remains slip-resistant, and the colour is less intense than polished. The standard choice for outdoor areas, terraces and heavily used floor areas.
Care & fabrication
Padang TG36 Dunkelgrau is very easy to care for, but should nevertheless be impregnated, especially on horizontal surfaces. With a water absorption of 0.08 % the stone is exceptionally dense and robust in everyday use.
For cleaning and care, pH-neutral natural stone cleaners and clear water are sufficient. On darker surfaces it is advisable not to let water residue dry on, so that no limescale veils become visible.
Avoid strongly abrasive cleaning agents and unnecessarily aggressive specialist chemicals. Oil, coffee or coloured liquids should nevertheless be taken up promptly from worktops, even though the stone technically forgives a great deal.
Outdoors, regular cleaning, clean drainage and restrained use of de-icing salt help to keep the surface visually clean and durable in the long term.
Frequently asked questions
Is Padang TG36 Dunkelgrau suitable for the kitchen?
Yes. The bulk density is 2,630 kg/m³, the compressive strength 170 MPa and the water absorption only 0.08 %. That makes Padang TG36 technically very well suited to kitchen worktops and other loaded surfaces.
Which finishes are available for Padang TG36 Dunkelgrau?
The surface finishes available in stock are listed in the »Finishes« block on this page.
Where does Padang TG36 Dunkelgrau come from?
Padang TG36 Dunkelgrau comes from China. On the market it is a classic dark contract granite with a very calm grain image.
How do I clean Padang TG36 Dunkelgrau correctly?
For cleaning and care, a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner is sufficient. On dark surfaces, limescale and water residue should not be allowed to dry on, so that the surface stays clean and even.
Is Padang TG36 Dunkelgrau frost-resistant?
Yes. The material is regarded as frost-resistant, and the water absorption of only 0.08 % is a very good value for outdoor applications.
Padang TG36 or Impala — which is better?
Impala is usually darker, denser and positioned as higher grade. Padang TG36 is more economical and entirely sufficient for many construction tasks. The decision is often made on budget, the desired darkness and the standard demanded by the project.
What does Padang TG36 Dunkelgrau cost?
The price depends on the batch, thickness, surface finish and fabrication — with natural stone there is no serious flat rate per square metre. Business customers see prices once their B2B account is activated; private customers receive a complete quote through a fabricator near them.
