About Pedras Salgadas

Pedras Salgadas is a granite for projects that put their trust in calm, durability and a clear dimension-stone presence. The material shows a light grey ground with white feldspar content and darker speckling, but is very balanced overall and without directionality. On facades, floor areas, steps and masonry in particular, that very restraint is an advantage: the stone reads as high-grade without becoming decorative, and remains predictable even across large surfaces. Finishes

Pedras Salgadas is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Polished

Polishing is the most classic finish in the hard stone segment — a mirror-smooth, high-gloss surface with the highest possible colour intensity and maximum depth effect in the mineral structure. As an acid-resistant silicate stone, polished granite is easy to care for and the first choice for kitchen worktops, wall claddings and prestigious exposed surfaces.

Satin-honed

The satin surface is created by brushing, which selectively removes softer minerals and gives the surface a slight depth. A matte appearance with subtle light reflection and a warm feel to the touch. Easy to maintain, insensitive to scratches and suited to everyday use — a popular alternative to a polish in modern kitchens and living spaces.

Honed C120

A matt appearance created by coarse honing with C120 grit — the level surface shows a more restrained colour intensity than polished and can carry visible honing marks. Compared with a polish it is more maintenance-intensive but stylistically calmer; the preferred choice for modern interior architecture with reduced reflection.

Anticato, untreated

The Eco Antik surface is flamed and then intensively brushed — the result is a more rustic, livelier look with a pronounced tactile quality. Recommended for kitchens as well as interior wall and floor claddings in which the material is meant to work as a characterful statement stone with a craftsman-like appeal.

Flamed + brushed once

The surface is roughened by heat and brushed once to smooth sharp-edged mineral residues and remove loose material. The feel is somewhat gentler than purely flamed, it remains slip-resistant, and the colour is less intense than polished. The standard choice for outdoor areas, terraces and heavily used floor areas.

Care & fabrication

Pedras Salgadas is easy to look after, but should be sealed after installation, particularly on floor areas and in external applications. Water absorption of 0.21 % is low and supports its good everyday performance.

For cleaning and care, pH-neutral natural stone cleaners, water and a soft cloth or mop are sufficient. On rougher finishes, films of dirt should be removed regularly so that the surface stays light and even.

Avoid unnecessarily aggressive specialist cleaners and heavily abrasive pads. Even with a robust granite the rule holds: oil, dyes and residues from the building site should not be left on the surface longer than necessary.

Outdoors, functioning drainage, moderate use of de-icing salt and regular maintenance cleaning matter. It is not frost that is critical, but poorly maintained layers of dirt on textured surfaces.
