About Picasso

Picasso is not a background stone. The image lives on dramatic concentric markings, soft movements and a colour spectrum of ochre, warm brown, beige, grey-white and occasional black lines. Every slab looks like an abstract painting — hence the trade name. For wall claddings, fireplace fronts, bar back walls, feature surfaces in the bathroom and deliberately staged furniture surfaces, this is one of the most striking natural stone options on the market.

Finishes

Picasso is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Polished

Polishing is the most classic finish for quartzite — a glossy surface with the highest possible colour intensity and a pronounced sense of depth. Depending on the mineral composition, the effect can be satin-gloss in places. As a silicate rock it is fully acid-resistant and scratch-hard — ideal for kitchen worktops and feature surfaces.

Care & fabrication

As a quartzite, Picasso is easy to care for. An impregnation is not mandatory, but on worktops and heavily loaded surfaces it makes sense — it makes cleaning and care easier and reduces visible water and grease rings.

For cleaning and care, pH-neutral natural stone cleaners and a soft microfibre cloth are sufficient. Because quartzite is acid-resistant, citrus, wine or vinegar do not harm the surface — a clear advantage over onyx or marble.

On polished surfaces with strong marking, water marks and fingerprints are sometimes perceived as more visible than on calm materials — that is more a question of perception than of a technical defect. Regular dry wiping keeps the look even.

Indoors, Picasso is practically carefree. For external surfaces the quartzite is in principle suitable, but is rarely used there, because the expressive marking develops its effect above all in staged interiors.

The ROSSITTIS Picasso is a quartzite from Pakistan. On the market there is a Canadian anorthosite of the same name from Magpie/Québec — that is a different stone, not this material.

Is Picasso suitable for the kitchen?
