About Sidi Kacem
Sidi Kacem works through a warm, calm grey-beige base tone with fine sedimentary lines and occasional lighter veins. The slab appearance is restrained and elegant — not an expressive play of veins, but a homely Mediterranean look that fills rooms with warm brightness without drama. It is precisely this quietness that makes the stone interesting for bathrooms, wall claddings, large floor surfaces, reception areas and Mediterranean-inspired interiors.
Geologically, Sidi Kacem is a dense, polishable limestone from Moroccan deposits — the Sidi Kacem region in northern Morocco has been known for decades for its high-quality natural stone reserves. Limestones form from marine carbonate deposits that have been consolidated over millions of years. The fine-grained, closed structure permits a very high-quality polish, which is why the material is listed in many ranges as “Sidi Kacem marble”, although it behaves like a classic polished limestone.
Technically, Sidi Kacem behaves as is typical of a high-quality polished limestone: a dense surface, good workability, acid-sensitive. Wine, lemon, vinegar or sanitary cleaners leave etch marks on the polished surface. With a typical bulk density of around 2,700 kg/m³, the material has been established for years in wall, floor and interior fit-out applications.

Compared with classic Mediterranean limestones such as Crema Marfil or Beige Tigre, Sidi Kacem appears somewhat greyer and cooler in its base tone, without losing the Mediterranean warmth. Anyone looking for maximum acid resistance for a grey-beige kitchen worktop is better served by a warm-toned quartzite.

Sidi Kacem is an acid-sensitive limestone. Wine, lemon juice, vinegar, cola, sanitary cleaners or descalers leave etch marks on the polished surface — visible as matt shadows or a loss of gloss.
For all applications, a silane or polysiloxane-based sealer is obligatory. It prevents the penetration of water, oil and dyes and reduces staining — but it does not remove the acid sensitivity. On polished surfaces we recommend refreshing the sealer every 1-2 years.
Daily care is carried out with a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner and a soft microfibre cloth. Avoid vinegar cleaners, cement haze removers, acidic sanitary cleaners and strongly alkaline products. Wine, coffee, oil, lemon or cosmetic products should not be left to act on polished surfaces for long.
For kitchen worktops, Sidi Kacem is only conditionally suitable — acids from everyday cooking can leave a visible patina.
For permanently weathered external surfaces the material is only conditionally suitable. Indoors it is stable over the long term given proper care.
