About Silent Grey

Silent Grey is a Brazilian sandstone whose name says it all: a calm, neutral grey without strong colour contrasts or pronounced veining. The slab appearance is even and homogeneous – a natural stone that places itself in the background and leaves room for other elements.

Sandstones consist mainly of quartz grains held together by a natural binder. This structure makes Silent Grey receptive to impregnation and somewhat more susceptible to mechanical impact than hard rocks – at the same time sandstone is easy to work and, thanks to its texture, slip-resistant, which predestines it for many external applications.

Finishes

Silent Grey is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Honed C220

Matt appearance created by fine honing with a C220 grit — the level surface has a calm look, and light honing marks are possible. More maintenance-intensive than polished, but with a characterful, natural appearance. A choice for sandstone floor areas and wall claddings that call for a matt Mediterranean effect.

Care & fabrication

Silent Grey should be treated regularly with a high-quality stone impregnating agent in order to keep moisture and stains at bay. For cleaning, use only mild, pH-neutral cleaning agents. Outdoors, cleaning with moderate water pressure is possible. Do not use strongly acidic cleaners.
