About Verde Lapponia

Verde Lapponia is a dark green to grey-green quartzite from northern Norway. Its picture lives on a soft, directional layering of minerals — typical of foliated metamorphic rocks — combined with finer, paler layers of feldspar and quartz. This makes the stone look animated, but not expressively loud; rather, geologically legible. For worktops, wall claddings, floors and stairs that is an interesting alternative to calmer granites: Verde Lapponia has more character while remaining technically resilient.

Finishes

Verde Lapponia is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Polished

Polishing is the most classic finish for quartzite — a glossy surface with the highest possible colour intensity and a pronounced sense of depth. Depending on the mineral composition, the effect can be satin-gloss in places. As a silicate rock it is fully acid-resistant and scratch-hard — ideal for kitchen worktops and feature surfaces.

Care & fabrication

As a Nordic quartzite, Verde Lapponia is easy to care for. An impregnation is not obligatory, but is recommendable on kitchen worktops — it makes cleaning and care easier and reduces visible grease and water rings.

For cleaning and care, pH-neutral natural stone cleaners and a soft microfibre cloth are enough. As a hard rock, Verde Lapponia also tolerates citrus, wine or vinegar without visible etch marks — a clear advantage over marbles.

On polished surfaces, water marks and fingerprints are visually more apparent than on matt surfaces. Regular dry wiping keeps the look even.
