About Atlantic Dark

Atlantic Dark is a stone for clear, resilient architecture. Its colouring moves between dark grey, anthracite and deep dark mineral nuances; the overall image reads as compact and controlled. That makes the stone a good fit for projects that work not with spectacular figuring but with material density and calm. Stairs, façades, floors and work surfaces in particular benefit from this.

The stone comes from Portugal and is petrographically a gneiss. On the market, however, it is carried in the granite, or hard rock, segment. That is also the classification relevant in practice. Compared with calcareous dark stones, Atlantic Dark is markedly more robust; compared with deep black granites, somewhat greyer and less severe in expression. For architecture looking for dark stone with technical dependability, that is a strong position.

Atlantic Dark is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Poliert

Politur erzeugt eine glänzende Oberfläche mit höchstmöglicher Farbintensität und ausgeprägter Tiefenwirkung der Porphyr-typischen Mineraleinschlüsse. Als Silikatgestein säurebeständig und pflegeleicht. Eine repräsentative Veredelung für Wandverkleidungen, Küchenarbeitsplatten und gestaltete Sichtflächen mit kraftvoller Materialwirkung.

Satiniert

Die Oberfläche wird gebürstet — weichere Minerale werden gezielt entfernt, es entsteht eine leichte Tiefe mit mattem Erscheinungsbild. Wie bei Granit pflegeleicht und alltagstauglich, säurebeständig. Eine zurückhaltende Veredelung, die den charakteristischen Porphyr-Mineralien eine subtile, matte Bühne gibt.

Care & fabrication

Atlantic Dark is easy to look after, but should nevertheless be sealed on worktops and in wet areas. This makes cleaning and maintenance easier and reduces limescale or grease films.

For cleaning and maintenance, pH-neutral natural stone cleaners, a soft cloth and regular drying off are sufficient. Aggressive chemistry is usually unnecessary with this hard stone.

On dark surfaces, water residues, soap films and grease are often more visible than technical damage. Continuous routine cleaning is therefore particularly worthwhile.

Outdoors, a suitable finish, drainage and proper installation matter more than specialist care. Textured finishes are frequently the safest solution there.
