Bruno Perla

Geologically, Bruno Perla is a dense dark limestone from Turkish deposits. Limestones form from marine carbonate deposits consolidated over millions of years — the golden veins are secondary mineral inclusions of iron-rich calcite mixtures. The fine-grained, closed structure permits a very high-quality polish, which is why in many ranges the material is carried as 'Bruno Perla marble', though it behaves like a classic polished limestone.

Technically, Bruno Perla behaves as is typical for a high-quality polished limestone: bulk density around 2,711 kg/m³, compressive strength about 118 MPa, flexural strength around 15 MPa, water absorption approximately 0.16 %. That is amply sufficient for interior architecture, vanity tops, wall surfaces and selected kitchen projects. Chemically the stone remains acid-sensitive — wine, lemon, vinegar or bathroom cleaners leave etch marks on the polished surface.

The surface finishes currently held in stock are listed in the »Finishes« block further down — the polished variant emphasises the dark depth and the golden vein contrast most strongly and is the first choice for prestige bathrooms and fireplace installations; the satin-honed variant shows the material with a matt feel that is tolerant in everyday use.

Compared with black limestones such as Nero Marquina with white veining, Bruno Perla appears warmer and more luxurious, because the gold rather than a hard black-and-white contrast takes over the main effect. Compared with dark granite, the material remains softer, more decorative and more classic, but demands markedly more awareness of maintenance.
