About Fior di Paonazzo

Fior di Paonazzo is one of the expressive Carrara marbles. Over a white ground, beige, grey, golden and in places darker veins and brecciated clouds run across the surface. This makes the material appear considerably more dramatic than a calm Carrara, and it lives from an almost painterly movement. On wall surfaces, kitchen islands, washstands and prestige stairs in particular this creates a strong, high-quality presence.

The stone comes from the Carrara area, from zones such as Bettogli and Colonnata in the Apuan Alps. Technically, bulk density is around 2,710 kg/m³, water absorption around 0.20 per cent and flexural strength around 11.0 MPa. Compressive strength lies in the usual range for high-quality Carrara marbles. Despite these sound figures, Fior di Paonazzo remains a calcareous marble and therefore acid-sensitive. The stone's great strength lies clearly in interior fit-out, where its figuring can take full effect.

Finishes

Fior di Paonazzo is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Poliert

As a light Carrara marble, Fior di Paonazzo should be carefully protected with a suitable natural stone sealer. This reduces the staining risk, but does not make the stone acid-proof.

pH-neutral natural stone cleaners, water and soft cloths or mops are suitable for cleaning and care. Coffee, wine, lemon juice, vinegar, oil and strongly coloured foods should not be left standing on the surface for long.

Avoid acidic cleaners, descalers and abrasive products. Polished light marbles in particular react visibly to incorrect chemical treatment.

For surfaces that stay beautiful, the rule is: clean and care for them regularly, check the sealer, and treat heavily used kitchen areas carefully.
