About Juparana Crema Mara

Juparana Crema Mara lives from a warm, elegant material effect with a classic Juparana character — the stone belongs to the world-famous Juparana family of warmly toned Brazilian migmatitic granites and is confirmed by the DNSA under entry #2527 as very frequently used in Germany. The ground tone is a warm cream beige to salmon rosé with warm, elegant undertones, crossed by characteristic black-anthracite biotite bands in flowing, diagonally sweeping movements. This irregularly clouded distribution of the dark bands is the defining feature of the Juparana family — the pale and dark mineral fractions trace the geological movement of the partial melting. Added to this are fine-grained pale grey-creamy microcline feldspar areas and isolated light brown accents. On a polished surface the stone develops a warm, glowing depth with the characteristic 'flowing' Juparana character — a material for architecture that wants to combine warm natural elegance with a dynamic material effect.

Geologically, Juparana Crema Mara is a Precambrian granite from the state of Rio de Janeiro in south-eastern Brazil — confirmed by the DNSA under entry #2527 (JUPARANA). The DNSA lists 'JUPARANA CREMA MARA' and 'CREMA MARA' explicitly as trade names. The stone belongs to the commercially widespread Juparana family of warmly toned Brazilian granites and migmatites with a creamy groundmass and dynamic migmatitic veining. Because of limited direct technical data in the sources, we orient ourselves on typical values for the Juparana family: Mohs hardness 6-7, bulk density 2,650-2,750 kg/m³, compressive strength 130-180 MPa, flexural strength 8-15 MPa, water absorption 0.2-0.3 %. The stone is thus acid-resistant, cut- and scratch-resistant, frost-resistant and well suited to heavily used applications. Wine, lemon juice, vinegar or acidic bathroom cleaners leave no etch marks. The fine-grained migmatitic structure also makes the stone very polishable: polished, the clouded slab appears with full depth and a warm gloss.

Compared with other Juparana variants such as Juparana India (creamier pink with markedly pink accents) or Juparana Classico (a warm golden tone with a characteristically golden-yellow creamy ground tone), Juparana Crema Mara brings a balanced warm creamy middle way — lighter than Classico, but warmer than India. Against purely creamy white Indian migmatites such as Ivory Brown / Shivakashi (with red garnet accents), Juparana Crema Mara remains without expressive garnet speckles and with more flowing black biotite bands. For architectural projects with a warm, natural atmosphere — modern kitchens, hotel lobbies, office façades, floor areas in prestige public spaces, pool areas and external façades — Juparana Crema Mara is a very widespread and readily accessible choice in the classic mid-price segment of the Brazilian Juparana family.

Care & fabrication

As a Brazilian Juparana granite, Juparana Crema Mara is a robust hard stone with low water absorption (typically 0.2-0.3 %), good acid resistance and a Mohs hardness of 6-7. Wine, lemon juice, vinegar, cola, bathroom cleaners or descalers leave no etch marks as they would on marble or limestone.

For interior applications we recommend a silane- or polysiloxane-based sealer at first installation. On polished surfaces, depending on use, 5-10 years can pass between refreshes of the sealer; on heavily used kitchen worktops or external applications, check every 2-3 years. The sealer protects against oil, grease and pigments penetrating deeply — on the lighter creamy pink areas, discolouration can otherwise show up visibly.

Daily care is carried out with a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner and a soft cloth or microfibre mop. Clear warm water is usually sufficient. Acidic cleaners are in principle unproblematic, but should nevertheless not be used, because they can attack the sealer. For kitchen worktops, Juparana Crema Mara is very well suited: cut- and scratch-resistant, insensitive to heat (hot pots and pans can be set down directly for short periods, though prolonged heat exposure above 200 °C should still be avoided), acid-resistant and with good stain repellency. The expressive creamy flowing surface conceals small marks of use remarkably well. For external applications, with its low water absorption, Juparana Crema Mara is frost-resistant and stable against weathering over the long term — outstandingly suited to external façades, terraces, stairs and pool areas. For pool surrounds, outdoor terraces and fountain surrounds a slip-resistant textured finish is mandatory — on smooth external surfaces there is a high risk of slipping when wet. In areas with frequent salt contact (de-icing salt, pool chlorine) we recommend an additional annual refresh of the sealer.
