Juparana Fantastico Giallo

Juparana Fantastico Giallo is a warm golden-yellow Brazilian dimension stone from the mining district around Guarapari in the state of Espírito Santo. Petrographically a migmatitic gneiss (listed in the trade as “granite”) from the Precambrian Brasiliano orogeny, with a lively, flowing, wavy-striped banding in golden yellow, cream beige and light brown tones, interspersed with strong black biotite and garnet mineral inclusions. At ROSSITTIS we work Juparana Fantastico Giallo into interior and exterior floors, stairs, window sills, skirtings, worktops and façade elements with a warm South American dimension stone feel.

Petrographically a migmatitic gneiss from the Precambrian Brasiliano orogeny (Espírito Santo, Brazil) – listed in the marble trade as “granite”. The typical wavy, streaked banding arises from metamorphic differentiation into light quartz-feldspar layers and dark biotite-garnet layers.

About Juparana Fantastico Giallo

Background. Juparana Fantastico Giallo is one of the best-known Brazilian export dimension stones from the state of Espírito Santo, where the largest continuous dimension stone industrial district in South America has developed since the 1970s. The deposits lie around Guarapari on the Atlantic coast, with further quarries in the hinterland. The region produces a whole family of “Juparana” grades with differing tonal distributions: Juparana Classico (warm brown-gold), Juparana Colombo (classic golden yellow), Juparana Persa (red-brown, warm), Juparana Imperial and the variant documented here, Fantastico Giallo (a particularly bright, sunny golden selection with pronounced wave banding).

Finishes

Juparana Fantastico Giallo is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Polished

Polishing is the most classic finish in the hard stone segment — a mirror-smooth, high-gloss surface with the highest possible colour intensity and maximum depth effect in the mineral structure. As an acid-resistant silicate stone, polished granite is easy to care for and the first choice for kitchen worktops, wall claddings and prestigious exposed surfaces.

Care & fabrication

Cleaning. In everyday use, warm water, a soft cloth or a clean mop and a neutral to mildly alkaline pH stone cleaner are sufficient. Soapy granite and gneiss care products and mild all-purpose cleaners without acid are suitable. Granite and gneiss are markedly more acid-resistant than marble – brief acid contact (wine, lemon) leaves no etch marks, because quartz and feldspar as main components are inert to acid.

Do not use. Avoid concentrated acids (sulphuric, hydrochloric, nitric acid), concrete and rust removers, highly concentrated industrial cleaners and chlorine-based bleaches – they can attack mica components and occasional biotite inclusions.

Sealing. A silane-polysiloxane-based sealer is recommended on interior worktops, external floor coverings, stairs and window sills. It reduces water and grease absorption, prevents pigments penetrating the micropores and makes ongoing cleaning easier. On the golden-yellow surface it also protects against discolouration from food pigments. First sealing directly after installation, refreshed every three to five years.

Kitchen. Juparana Fantastico Giallo is well suited as a kitchen worktop – the high acid and scratch resistance stands up to everyday use better than marble. Hot pots are fundamentally tolerated; trivets as standard practice are nevertheless recommended. Chopping boards make sense – not for the sake of the stone (which is harder than any knife), but to spare the knives.

Bathroom. Very well usable in the bathroom. Anti-limescale sprays and sanitary cleaners are unproblematic in normal use.

Floors and stairs. A classic application. The surface finishes currently in stock are listed in the »Finishes« block further down. Dirt-trapping mats at the entrance markedly reduce the amount of abrasive particles brought in.

Outdoors. Fully suitable. Frost-resistant, acid-resistant against rain and normal environmental loads, with the polish holding up permanently outdoors. The surface finishes currently in stock are listed in the »Finishes« block further down.

Repair. Deeper damage can be filled by the stonemason with a pigmented polyester-resin-based granite/gneiss filler and worked in to match the colour. Refreshing the polish is possible on large-area damage.

Frequently asked questions

What is Juparana Fantastico Giallo geologically?

Petrographically a migmatitic gneiss from the Precambrian Brasiliano orogeny (about 600–750 million years old) from the mining district around Guarapari in the Brazilian state of Espírito Santo. The wavy-striped banding arises through metamorphic differentiation into light quartz-feldspar layers and dark biotite-garnet layers. In the marble trade the stone is listed as “granite” – petrographically correct is migmatite/gneiss.

What exactly does Juparana Fantastico Giallo look like?

A warm golden-yellow ground colour with lively wavy-striped movement, interspersed with fine black biotite mica stippling and isolated darker bands. The tonal value ranges from a light golden yellow through creamy beige to a light golden brown – “Fantastico Giallo” is the brightest, sunniest variant of the Brazilian Juparana family.

What technical values does Juparana Fantastico Giallo have?

Bulk density around 2,630 kg/m³, water absorption 0.39 %, compressive strength about 117 MPa, Mohs hardness 6–7. Frost resistance is stated, acid resistance is given (quartz/feldspar dominant), and the polish holds up permanently outdoors.

Which grades are there in the Juparana family?

The Brazilian Juparana family typically comprises Juparana Classico (warm brown-gold), Juparana Colombo (classic golden yellow), Juparana Persa (red-brown), Juparana Imperial and Juparana Fantastico Giallo (a particularly bright, sunny selection with pronounced wave banding).

Is Juparana Fantastico Giallo suitable for external use?

Yes – that is one of its core domains. Frost resistance is given and the polish holds up permanently outdoors; for external surfaces with a slip resistance requirement, a matt, textured surface finish makes more sense than polished. Classic external applications are floor coverings, pool surrounds, stairs, façade panels and plinth details.

Which finishes does ROSSITTIS supply?

The surface finishes currently in stock are listed in the »Finishes« block on this page.

Which cleaners may I use on Juparana Fantastico Giallo?

Permitted are warm water, neutral to mildly alkaline stone care products and mild all-purpose cleaners. Granite and gneiss are markedly more acid-resistant than marble; brief acid contact (wine, lemon, vinegar) is unproblematic. Out of the question are concentrated industrial cleaners, highly concentrated acids and chlorine-based bleaches in high concentration.

Juparana Fantastico Giallo or Giallo Veneziano?

Juparana Fantastico Giallo shows markedly more movement with a clearly legible wave layering; Giallo Veneziano has a more granular, more even image without pronounced movement. Anyone looking for a lively, dynamic warm golden-yellow dimension stone is right with Fantastico Giallo; anyone who prefers a calm, granular golden surface, with Giallo Veneziano.

What does Juparana Fantastico Giallo cost?

The price depends on the batch, thickness, surface finish and fabrication — with natural stone there is no serious flat rate per square metre. Business customers see prices once their B2B account is activated; private customers receive a complete quote through a fabricator near them.
