About Rosa Valencia

Rosa Valencia lives from a warm material effect that plays into rosé and peach. The ground tone moves between a discreet pink and a warm beige-pink, shot through with fine whitish calcite veins that give the surface a calm movement. The slab appearance remains restrained and elegant — not a dramatic play of veins, but an atmospheric, warm Mediterranean appearance that gives light interiors warmth and character without a dominant presence. It is precisely this quietness that makes the stone interesting for bathrooms, wall claddings, floor surfaces, staircases and prestigious interior fit-outs — everywhere a warm Spanish elegance is called for.

Finishes

Rosa Valencia is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Polished

Polishing is the most classic finish for marble and limestone — a glossy surface with the highest possible colour intensity and a pronounced depth to the veining. Depending on the mineral composition, the effect can be matte-gloss in places. Acid-sensitive — wine, lemon and vinegar leave etch marks after prolonged contact.

Care & fabrication

Rosa Valencia is an acid-sensitive limestone. Wine, lemon juice, vinegar, cola, sanitary cleaners or descalers leave etch marks on the material surface — visible as matt shadows or a loss of gloss.

For all applications an impregnation on a silane or polysiloxane basis is mandatory. It prevents the penetration of water, oil and colouring agents and reduces the formation of stains — but it does not remove the acid sensitivity. On polished surfaces we recommend renewing the impregnation every 1-2 years, more frequently on heavily used floor surfaces.

Daily care is carried out with a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner and a soft microfibre cloth. Avoid vinegar cleaners, cement veil removers, acidic sanitary cleaners and strongly alkaline agents. Wine, coffee, oil, lemon juice or cosmetic products should not be left to act on polished surfaces for long — wipe them up immediately and wipe over with clear water.

For kitchen worktops Rosa Valencia is only suitable to a limited extent — acids from everyday cooking can leave a visible patina. Anyone who loves the warm material image and accepts the patina as character can use the material. Anyone who needs maximum everyday security should choose a warm-toned quartzite or granite.

Rosa Valencia is primarily an interior material. Frost resistance is only given to a limited extent; for permanently weathered external surfaces the material is not to be recommended. In protected external locations with a honed surface and appropriate laying, a moderate load is possible.

Frequently asked questions

Is Rosa Valencia suitable for the kitchen?

Only to a limited extent. As an acid-sensitive limestone with a compressive strength of 85.5 MPa, it works as a kitchen worktop only where the patina is accepted, the impregnation is consistent and acids are removed immediately. For carefree warm-toned kitchen worktops we recommend a quartzite or granite.

Where does Rosa Valencia come from?

Rosa Valencia comes from the province of Valencia in Spain — the most important quarries lie in Benifairo de Valldigna and Barcheta/Játiva. Geologically it is a Jurassic limestone. Internationally the material also runs under Valencia Rosa, Buixcarro Rose, Florida Rose, Rose De Valencia and Rosa Florida.

How do I clean and care for Rosa Valencia?

Impregnation is mandatory. Daily care with a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner and a microfibre cloth. Consistently avoid acidic cleaners, descalers, vinegar and citric acid. Wipe up wine, coffee or oil immediately.

Is Rosa Valencia frost-resistant and suitable for outdoors?

Rosa Valencia is primarily an interior material. Frost resistance is only given to a limited extent; for permanently weathered external surfaces the material is not to be recommended. In protected external locations with a honed surface and appropriate laying, a moderate load is possible.

Rosa Valencia or Rosa Aurora — which suits better?

Both are acid-sensitive light limestones with a pink, warm tonality. Rosa Aurora from Portugal typically shows a more pronounced pink colouring with more clearly visible veins — more expressive. Rosa Valencia from Spain appears more subtle and more elegant with calmer veining — more flexible in planning terms. For expressive accents Rosa Aurora, for calm Mediterranean rooms Rosa Valencia.

Which applications are classic for Rosa Valencia?

Classic uses are wall claddings, floor surfaces, staircase installations, window sills and washstand tops in prestigious interiors, bathrooms and hotels. The material is also readily used for indoor pool surrounds, because the warm pink tone in combination with water appears particularly inviting.

What does Rosa Valencia cost?

The price depends on the batch, thickness, surface finish and fabrication — with natural stone there is no serious flat rate per square metre. Business customers see prices once their B2B account is activated; private customers receive a complete quote through a fabricator near them.
