About Tan Brown

Tan Brown is one of the internationally best-known brown granites, because it strikes exactly the right balance between warmth, robustness and recognisability. The material shows a dark brown to chocolate-coloured ground tone, plus black and grey crystalline inclusions that make the appearance lively without becoming restless. On kitchen worktops, stairs, floors and window sills in particular, this makes Tan Brown look warm and of good quality without becoming ornamental. As a brown granite it is a genuine classic in the market.

Finishes

Tan Brown is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Polished

Polishing is the most classic finish in the hard stone segment — a mirror-smooth, high-gloss surface with the highest possible colour intensity and maximum depth effect in the mineral structure. As an acid-resistant silicate stone, polished granite is easy to care for and the first choice for kitchen worktops, wall claddings and prestigious exposed surfaces.

Satin-honed

The satin surface is created by brushing, which selectively removes softer minerals and gives the surface a slight depth. A matte appearance with subtle light reflection and a warm feel to the touch. Easy to maintain, insensitive to scratches and suited to everyday use — a popular alternative to a polish in modern kitchens and living spaces.

Polished, reverse lapatura®

A slab usable on both sides: a polished face with the highest possible colour intensity and a reverse side with the lapatura® finish (brushed and then polished for a wet-look effect). Two design-led surface characters on a single slab — a flexible option for demanding architecture.

Flamed + brushed once

The surface is roughened by heat and brushed once to smooth sharp-edged mineral residues and remove loose material. The feel is somewhat gentler than purely flamed, it remains slip-resistant, and the colour is less intense than polished. The standard choice for outdoor areas, terraces and heavily used floor areas.

Care & fabrication

Tan Brown should be impregnated after installation, particularly on kitchen worktops and dark floor areas. The water absorption of 0.11–0.3 % is low, but an impregnation still noticeably eases cleaning and care.

For cleaning and care, pH-neutral natural stone cleaners, water and a soft microfibre cloth are enough. On polished dark surfaces, limescale, grease and water residues should not be allowed to dry on.

Avoid aggressive specialist chemicals and strongly abrasive pads. Oil, coffee, wine and coloured foods should be removed promptly from worktops so that the surface stays calm and clear.

Outdoors, good drainage, regular cleaning and the right finish help to preserve the technical strength visually over the long term as well.
