The slab image is lively, but not overloaded — a homely, Mediterranean character with an even structure. Geologically, Tundra Grey is a dense, polishable limestone from Turkish deposits. Turkey is among the classic natural stone sources of Europe; the region around Burdur and Afyon has been known for high-quality limestones for decades. Limestones form from marine carbonate deposits consolidated over millions of years — the fine fossil inclusions are the petrified remains of marine organisms that bring the slab image to life.
Technically, Tundra Grey behaves typically for a high-quality polished limestone: dense surface, good workability, acid-sensitive. Wine, lemon, vinegar or sanitary cleaners leave etch marks on the material surface. With a typical bulk density of around 2,700 kg/m³, the material has been established for years for wall, floor and interior fit-out applications.

Compared with classic grey marbles such as Bardiglio, Tundra Grey brings more material character through its fossil inclusions. Set against neutral grey quartzites such as Luna Grey, the material appears warmer and more decorative, but is acid-sensitive. Anyone looking for maximum acid resistance for a grey kitchen worktop is better served by a grey quartzite.

Tundra Grey is an acid-sensitive limestone. Wine, lemon juice, vinegar, cola, sanitary cleaners or descalers leave etch marks on the material surface — visible as matt shadows or a loss of gloss.
For all applications, an impregnation on a silane or polysiloxane basis is mandatory. It prevents the penetration of water, oil and colouring substances and reduces staining — but it does not remove the acid sensitivity. We recommend refreshing the impregnation every 1-2 years.
Daily care is carried out with a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner and a soft microfibre cloth. Avoid vinegar-based cleaners, cement haze removers, acidic sanitary cleaners and strongly alkaline agents. Wine, coffee, oil, lemon and cosmetic products should not be left to act on the material surface for long.
For kitchen worktops, Tundra Grey is only conditionally suitable — acids from everyday cooking can leave a visible patina.
For permanently weathered external surfaces the material is only conditionally suitable. Indoors it is stable over the long term with proper care.
