About Benjamin Grey

Benjamin Grey is a limestone that works above all through tone and calm. The colouring ranges from pale grey through silver grey to slightly bluish nuances, depending on the finish and the extraction zone. The material reads as fine, restrained and very architectural. On façades, stairs, floor surfaces and wall cladding in particular this produces a matter-of-fact natural stone effect that is neither Mediterranean warm nor hard-rock cool.

The stone comes from Birzeit in the West Bank and is one of the regionally typical limestones of the Levant. Compared with Portuguese or Spanish limestones, Benjamin Grey often reads as somewhat paler and more sober. Against grey marbles it remains more dimension-stone-like and less luxuriously charged. That is precisely what makes it interesting for projects looking for a serious grey natural stone surface with regional individuality.

Satiniert

Die Oberfläche wird gebürstet — weichere Minerale werden gezielt entfernt, es entsteht eine subtile Tiefe und mattes Erscheinungsbild. Besonders geaderte Kalksteine erhalten so eine charaktervolle Optik und Haptik. Die mattere Veredelung kaschiert kleine Ätzungen besser als poliert und ist alltagstauglicher für stark beanspruchte Innenflächen.

Getrommelt

Durch Reibung mit Gesteinszugaben und Wasser in einer rotierenden Trommel entsteht eine matte Oberfläche mit leicht angebrochenen Kanten und satinähnlicher Haptik. Wirkt natürlich gealtert. Geeignet ausschließlich für Wand- und Bodenfliesen, nicht für Rohplatten — Standardwahl für mediterrane und antikisierte Gestaltungskonzepte.

Care & fabrication

Benjamin Grey should be sealed carefully on floors, stairs, façades and in wet areas. That makes cleaning and care easier and reduces the uptake of moisture and staining agents.

For cleaning and care, pH-neutral natural stone cleaners, soft cloths and little standing water are suitable. Acidic cleaners, descalers and aggressive specialist chemicals attack the limestone and should be avoided.

In kitchens, coffee, wine, oil and citrus products should not be left standing on the surface for long. Anyone using Benjamin Grey as a work surface should deliberately allow for the limestone-typical maintenance effort.

Outdoors, clean drainage, suitable finishes and correct installation matter more than any specialist chemicals. That way the grey dimension stone effect remains coherent over the long term.
