About Verde Oliva

Verde Oliva is all about movement. Dark, almost black bands in flame and wave shapes run across an olive-grey to grey-green ground, with light, granular areas in between. Depending on the cutting direction, the pattern looks calmly stretched or lively and flamed. Polished, the green and the contrast come out most strongly; flamed and brushed, the surface becomes lighter, matt and slip-resistant.

Geologically, Verde Oliva is a gneiss, a metamorphic rock whose flowing banding formed during transformation under pressure and heat. The stone comes from South Africa and is traded as granite; another common name is Olive Green. A Ukrainian granite is also sold under the name Verde Oliva — a different material with an evenly speckled look and without the typical banding.

Finishes

Verde Oliva is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Polished

Polishing is the most classic finish in the hard stone segment — a mirror-smooth, high-gloss surface with the highest possible colour intensity and maximum depth effect in the mineral structure. As an acid-resistant silicate stone, polished granite is easy to care for and the first choice for kitchen worktops, wall claddings and prestigious exposed surfaces.

Flamed + brushed once

The surface is roughened by heat and brushed once to smooth sharp-edged mineral residues and remove loose material. The feel is somewhat gentler than purely flamed, it remains slip-resistant, and the colour is less intense than polished. The standard choice for outdoor areas, terraces and heavily used floor areas.

Care & fabrication

Verde Oliva is dense and easy to care for. For kitchen worktops, vanity tops and outdoor areas we recommend an impregnating sealer as additional protection against oil, red wine and coffee; refresh it every few years depending on use.

For cleaning, clear water, a soft cloth or mop and, if needed, a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner are enough. Avoid strongly alkaline deep cleaners and abrasive pads.

Outdoors, sweep off leaves and soil regularly and rinse off de-icing salt residue with clear water in spring.
