Verde Oliva

Geologically, Verde Oliva is a Precambrian plutonic granite from the Ukrainian Shield — one of the oldest continental basements in Europe. The medium-grained texture and the isotropic mineral arrangement clearly identify the material as a magmatically formed granite, not as a metamorphic gneiss. Mineralogically, green potassium feldspar and plagioclase dominate, interspersed with quartz and black to dark green biotite; hornblende, magnetite and apatite occur in traces. The olive-green colour signature comes directly from the green-tinted feldspar — a rare colour quality, much valued in the European market, that clearly sets Verde Oliva apart visually from most other granite grades. The Maslavske quarry has been in production for decades; the material has been regularly installed in architectural projects in Central and Eastern Europe, in Italy, Germany and France since the 1990s.

The technical values are consistently in the upper class of hard rocks: bulk density 2,710 kg/m³, compressive strength 230–255 MPa, flexural strength 29 MPa, water absorption 0.10–0.15 per cent. That places Verde Oliva clearly above many standard granites — the high compressive strength of up to 255 MPa also qualifies the material for heavily loaded floor areas, industrial floors and large façade projects. The very low water absorption of 0.10–0.15 per cent makes Verde Oliva absolutely frost-resistant to DIN EN 12371 and fully suitable for exterior use, including in regions with hard winters and de-icing salt exposure. Acid resistance is given within the normal application range — wine, lemon juice, vinegar or carbonated drinks leave no etch marks. Compared with other green granites such as Verde Marina, Verde Lavras (Brazil) or Verde Maritaka, Verde Oliva looks calmer and darker, with considerably less movement and a more controlled, homogeneous slab effect — ideal for projects that want calm in the planning.

At ROSSITTIS, Verde Oliva is available as a raw slab (random-size slab), as a floor tile, as a tread and riser, as a window sill, as a skirting, as a paving stone, as a façade element, as a pool surround, as a column and as a project-specific cut to size; likewise as a kitchen worktop and vanity top. Our honest assessment: Verde Oliva is one of the most robust and at the same time visually most distinctive green granites in the European market. The combination of a rare olive-green colour signature, very high compressive strength (up to 255 MPa), the lowest water absorption (0.10–0.15 per cent) and absolute frost resistance makes the material a first choice for demanding exterior and interior applications — from prestige kitchen worktops to large façades and heavily loaded industrial floors. For interior applications, polished Verde Oliva brings an exceptionally deep and refined green effect of a kind found in hardly any other granite.
